2018-11-27 07:09:33 PM mwilfong We publsihed a resident wish list that went out to all of the families in the newsletter
2018-11-27 07:09:36 PM smccormick we are decorating friday
2018-11-27 07:09:43 PM bjholmes1 During December, each department has to take a turn hosting a craft/game or some sorts to do with the residents.
2018-11-27 07:09:44 PM rbarthel yes we had a death today too. that's 4 in two weeks for us

2018-11-27 07:10:08 PM dustylann We have 90 residents and I have a $200 budget per month. Its ridiculous for the amount of activities that are expected! So I do end up spending my own money just so my residents can have the activities they deserve.
2018-11-27 07:10:10 PM bkargbo we started decorating already
2018-11-27 07:10:10 PM wanzaella yes we get good donations
2018-11-27 07:10:11 PM smccormick i have gotten so many decorations from family members they are always willing to help
2018-11-27 07:10:12 PM labara so its all profit
2018-11-27 07:10:14 PM angelagalloway I have the entire facility decorated except for the activity room. I am having family night on Dec. 4th and a cookie exchange. The residents families are invited and we are decorating the tree and stringing popcorn, making ornaments and singing carols.
2018-11-27 07:10:14 PM shemming I agree we do not utilize our families enough. A lot of them would love to help out if they knew we needed it.
2018-11-27 07:10:16 PM mylyn23 my boss just build really big projector residents loves it and thankful they said it was good xmas gift for them
2018-11-27 07:10:26 PM daniellewooters Maybe construction paper, they can make their own hats and decorations!!
2018-11-27 07:10:26 PM bjholmes1 This gives other departments the opportunity to engage in a social setting but also for them to understand what it takes to have one program let alone multiple in one day
2018-11-27 07:10:29 PM daniellewooters Get creative
2018-11-27 07:10:30 PM melodywhipple smccormik, how did you find volunteers; I've made calls to the high school for singers, calls to the 4H clubs and church with no response
2018-11-27 07:10:44 PM marshallp we put up the 1st two tree in our facility
2018-11-27 07:10:49 PM mayuridshah we are going to start decorating
2018-11-27 07:10:50 PM trinawh so how do you all deal with the illnesses, strokes, deaths, etc
2018-11-27 07:10:53 PM acorman I like the family night idea
2018-11-27 07:10:54 PM rbarthel angelagalloway i like your Dec 4th event idea... was thinking of planning one for our facility too!
2018-11-27 07:10:55 PM djerome1 we just had a meeting today about xmas decorations and decorating the halls and having a contest.. they wanted activities to supply the decorations,, excuse me? no. The company can do that. they think my dept is made of money
2018-11-27 07:11:06 PM nchacon05 we started decorating on monday
2018-11-27 07:11:08 PM nelsonalex123 Any good activities coming up for December?
2018-11-27 07:11:10 PM kathyhughes I would post a list once a month next to the sign in sheets for families each month we would get whatever we needed
2018-11-27 07:11:12 PM tonjarobles how about local boy and girl scouts to come in and carole?
2018-11-27 07:11:13 PM angelagalloway Same thing here with lack of volunteers. Our facility is in the middle of nowhere though...
2018-11-27 07:11:22 PM labara our tradition is the day after thanksgiving we decorate the whole building!
2018-11-27 07:11:29 PM mwilfong At another facility that I worked at I had Therapy help with baked items. The residetns that were in therapy would bake their favorite treat for the bake
2018-11-27 07:11:32 PM wanzaella iI have a lot of college students that volunteer
2018-11-27 07:11:36 PM angelagalloway I'm planning a snowball fight (big marshmallows).
2018-11-27 07:11:41 PM paigec for the veterens we have a hospice company and she visits with all veterens she brings coffee and donuts once a month
2018-11-27 07:11:46 PM lhahn snow ball fight... love that idea!!!
2018-11-27 07:11:46 PM schweitzerkl we started the day after thanksgiving decorating
2018-11-27 07:11:49 PM labara we also have what we call "country drives" and we go out 2 nights to see peoples christmas lights
2018-11-27 07:11:49 PM smccormick I reached out to the community outreach person at our local ISD and she helped find seniors willing and able to come and assist
2018-11-27 07:11:50 PM paigec awesome idea kathy
2018-11-27 07:11:51 PM briannad Linked Senior also has a lot of good ieas
2018-11-27 07:11:53 PM heatherr working on decorating now. I have three different units to decorate all alone. It's very time consuming. I'm actually gonna go to bed straight after class so that I can be up at 2am and to work by 3am to try and get a decent start.
2018-11-27 07:11:54 PM alexisl does anyone have up their trees
2018-11-27 07:11:55 PM mloven we decorated our main diningroom tree today
2018-11-27 07:12:01 PM rbarthel december activities.... drive through lights at the botanical gardens, living christmas tree at a local church, LOTS of kids choirs coming in to sing, LOTS of organizations coming in to donate gifts/fellowship
2018-11-27 07:12:02 PM angelagalloway Apparently the AD before me didn't really do anything with them so they are loving everything I've done so far.
2018-11-27 07:12:12 PM briannad lol ment ideas
2018-11-27 07:12:39 PM wanzaella we just about to start decorating
