2020-04-14 06:06:25 PM taylorracine i am about to do a resident council- any tips are greatly appreciated on how to handle
2020-04-14 06:06:29 PM foverstreet94 i wrote a letter for my resident council informing them of policy changes and reminded them if they have any problems the list of people to contact. i also went around and talked to them about any issues they were having
2020-04-14 06:06:32 PM jennifervasquez15 keep your head up hun
2020-04-14 06:06:35 PM careyjeff I was gonna do a resident council room by rooom but why everythinhg iis uncertain
2020-04-14 06:06:36 PM cak06008 we do not have a huge group for resident council
2020-04-14 06:06:38 PM smithkayla We went room to room with our resident council minutes sheet and did a mini meeting with each residents and then combined them all on one minute sheet and had the presdient sign the final copy.
2020-04-14 06:06:44 PM sbarzak IF YOU ARENT HAVING A MEETING, I WOULD TYPE OUT YOUR FORM AND HAVE YOUR PRESIDENT OR VICE PRESIDENT SIGN IT
2020-04-14 06:06:49 PM teresabradley We made up a questioneer paper and went into each residents room thats part of the council and had 1:1 meeting. Then discutssed the concerns with the other departments.
2020-04-14 06:07:15 PM flossie Yes, I heard state was still interested in resident council
2020-04-14 06:07:17 PM dani Our director made a survey or everyone and left a spot for comments and concerns for resident council meetings
2020-04-14 06:07:18 PM taylorracine we only have a handful of residents who attend and we dont even have a president so to speak because none of them wanted to be
2020-04-14 06:07:21 PM sbarzak WHAT KIND OF CONCERNS HAVE THEY BEEN EXPRESSING WITH YOUR MEETINGS
2020-04-14 06:07:29 PM sarahmarsh Where do we find the resident council form?
2020-04-14 06:07:32 PM careyjeff Good advice no meeting have residents sigen it
2020-04-14 06:07:34 PM taylorracine i think handing the survey would be a good idea
2020-04-14 06:07:34 PM patricia5 we have had no council meeting since March I am worried but im gonna try what you all have been doing.
2020-04-14 06:07:35 PM cak06008 Contact with family

2020-04-14 06:07:54 PM clarissam Im kinda jealous that yall are doing a little bit of activities im not able to do anything and it breaks my heart.
2020-04-14 06:07:56 PM bduncan we tried to send out a survey paper and that didit work out the best so now we have to talk wiht them one on one and basically have a one on one resident council
2020-04-14 06:08:05 PM sbarzak LETS STAY ON TOPIC PLEASE
2020-04-14 06:08:08 PM flossie Seemed like their were less complaints. I think they understand the situation even though it is frustrating for them.
2020-04-14 06:08:13 PM flossie there *
2020-04-14 06:08:18 PM patricia5 topic please
2020-04-14 06:08:24 PM cak06008 some individuals have many family calls, others do not. it is very stressful for all.
2020-04-14 06:08:27 PM sbarzak WHAT TYPE OF CONCERNS HAVE WE HAD SINCE DOING THE 1:1 RESIDENT COUNCIL?
2020-04-14 06:08:27 PM sarahmarsh Where do we find that resident council form?
2020-04-14 06:08:29 PM emilyac Same- we didn't have any complains, they're going with the flow.
2020-04-14 06:08:32 PM jennifervasquez15 We have yet to have a resident council meeting where can i find the form?
2020-04-14 06:08:36 PM scibaamanda We had the resident council meeting today, each resident met individually with the president and vice president, I put markings on the floor that were 6 feet apart in a triangle for (Pres, VP, and resident)
2020-04-14 06:08:45 PM sbarzak I HAVENT HAD AS MANY EITHER, WE ARE WONDERING IF IT IS BECAUSE OF NO FAMILIES THERE
2020-04-14 06:08:47 PM foverstreet94 the residents always have concerns with their shower schedule, aides stating that they dont have enough staff to get to certain things
2020-04-14 06:08:47 PM davettag My current practice for resident council is a 1:1 visit , but i like the idea of giving the resident a survey as an alternative.
2020-04-14 06:08:49 PM ehorton not alot ... missing items.. so we did I like to know forms...also when is this going to be over... we picked out meal of the month and A new resident expresed how th efood time was taking to long to get trays
2020-04-14 06:08:50 PM taylorracine that is what i did when this first started getitng bad- i went to each member and ran through the agenda
2020-04-14 06:08:52 PM teresabradley Our residents concerns are menu of course. And when we can go back to doing activities as usual. Asking if anyone is sick with the virus.
2020-04-14 06:08:56 PM sierrafannin My building is closed
2020-04-14 06:09:00 PM taylorracine last month, none of my members had concerns
2020-04-14 06:09:06 PM dani THe concerns are for some who can not write, we have to have staff go in and assit.
2020-04-14 06:09:19 PM patricia5 I am very concerned no council meetings at all our ED states no at this time
2020-04-14 06:09:19 PM careyjeff I made a 10 page avtivity packey for my residents on April 2. crosswords, worrd search etc, then passed out easter crafts a week later. with arkers.
2020-04-14 06:09:22 PM cak06008 Oddly, there have been many more complaints about the food
2020-04-14 06:09:23 PM dani Not a bad thing
2020-04-14 06:09:31 PM taylorracine my residents typically have something to say about meals, but surprisingly didnt last month
2020-04-14 06:09:44 PM cak06008 many normal kitechen staff out. don't know. but that has been a 1:1 comment from many residents
2020-04-14 06:09:44 PM summerlane weve only had concerns that they want to leave their rooms . They are reaching high frustration levels this week. its so hard to try and comfort them all
2020-04-14 06:09:50 PM miguele left the chat room
2020-04-14 06:09:56 PM flossie Some of my residents did also mention that the food was not as good since this whole " virus thing" LOL

2020-04-14 06:10:07 PM clarissam enter the chat room
2020-04-14 06:10:07 PM derekb9907 emilyac Resident Council MeetingI went room to room with a set list of questions.First time doing it, so I made sure to add on the back some notes on what is helpful for the department head meeting.Concerns were food and activities. Not all of the residents are fully cognizant so I interviewed the most capable. For activities, they wanted more bingo, tv, and the community dining room back.

2020-04-14 06:10:40 PM cak06008 offer distractions
2020-04-14 06:10:42 PM teresabradley Our residents are missing the beauty shop and the store to get their shopping on!
2020-04-14 06:10:47 PM miguele enter the chat room
2020-04-14 06:10:48 PM sbarzak I LIKE THE NEWSLETTTER THING... I AM GOING TO ASK MY RESIDENTS TO HELP WRITE IT

2020-04-14 06:11:33 PM patricia5 enter the chat room
2020-04-14 06:11:33 PM foverstreet94 just reminding them that this a something going on everywhere, we arent punishing them. last week when it was warm they were able to go on the patio and get fresh air that helped a lot

2020-04-14 06:11:38 PM cak06008 many residents are scared. how do we reassure them?

2020-04-14 06:11:42 PM scibaamanda Less complaints as well.
2020-04-14 06:11:54 PM smithkayla rooms not being cleaned as much and residents not understnading why it is ok for staff to come in and out the doors but they cant leave the building or have their familiy come visit are the complaints I have received.
2020-04-14 06:12:00 PM jenniferslockbower we went room to room in the hallway so that residents could still buy a few of their items that are popular at the store
2020-04-14 06:12:09 PM clarissam anyone work with alzheimer and Dementia??
2020-04-14 06:12:10 PM davettag Many of the residents suggested dining together, and fancy nails. I try to go and sit with some during their lunch times, and also in-room nail sessions.
2020-04-14 06:12:15 PM cak06008 complaints about the ipad we are using for family calls: too quiet.

2020-04-14 06:13:15 PM sbarzak SHE ASKED HOW WE WERE DEALING WITH GROUPS-- I SAID NO GROUPS AND SHE SAID GREAT

2020-04-14 06:14:21 PM sbarzak SHE ALSO WAS ASKING ABOUT THE BEAUTICIAN.... THE BEAUTICIAN CANT CROSS OVER OTHER HALLS AND HAS TO BE AN EMPLOYEE OF THE FACILITY, NOT A VENDOR
2020-04-14 06:14:23 PM emilyac Your ipad won't connect? It should be able to through bluetooth or an aux cable
2020-04-14 06:14:28 PM careyjeff Can we at least take 2 or 3 at a time outside for some fresh air? no!!!!!
2020-04-14 06:14:29 PM clarissam any activities for alzheimer and demenia?
2020-04-14 06:14:41 PM taylorracine yeah we dont have any beauticians during this
2020-04-14 06:14:44 PM flossie Are we allowed a beautician?
2020-04-14 06:14:46 PM emilyac Name that Tune is a good one that can be done in hallways
2020-04-14 06:14:53 PM flossie We don't have one right now. Our poor residents!
2020-04-14 06:14:59 PM foverstreet94 yeah we had to pull our beautician out and my residents are looking shaggy right now
2020-04-14 06:15:01 PM taylorracine name that tune would be nice in the halls
2020-04-14 06:15:03 PM jenniferslockbower some of my poor residents that get their hair done every 2 days are unrecognizable
2020-04-14 06:15:05 PM webernicole I am also a licensened cosmetologist so I have been doing some hair at times... The residents have loved it!
2020-04-14 06:15:11 PM cak06008 for dementia residents, we have done many reminiscing/memory/conversation games
2020-04-14 06:15:15 PM sbarzak I WOULDNT HAVE A BEAUTICIAN PER WHAT SHE SAID
2020-04-14 06:15:18 PM bduncan the ladies are lost with out being able to get their hair donw
2020-04-14 06:15:20 PM careyjeff I played music in hallways staff got pissed too loud
2020-04-14 06:15:26 PM sbarzak EVEN IF IT IS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE CENTER

2020-04-14 06:15:33 PM ehorton ive done race cars and nerf gun practice ... can whip those down after use
2020-04-14 06:15:38 PM foverstreet94 hoping that maybe we can do a sort of hair care hour, just washing and possibly using a curling iron
2020-04-14 06:15:40 PM flossie We have a salon in our facility
2020-04-14 06:15:46 PM taylorracine i guess since they are in close contact with the residents
2020-04-14 06:15:56 PM emilyac Categories is a good one- they name as many things in a category as possible, and sometimes I give them clues to help out. I write their responses on a white board so they can see them.
2020-04-14 06:15:58 PM scibaamanda I had storytime in each hallway this afternoon. Went well, they had blueberry muffins and I read 4 short stories about miracles and inspiration and then played Frank Sinatra hits.
2020-04-14 06:16:04 PM ehorton I want a drone for work to fly in the hall..lol
2020-04-14 06:16:12 PM derekb9907 sbarzak I want to create an activity box, but I need to first create a list of activities for the patients that can take care of themselves. I read it somewhere, but it’s a list that the residents would check which activities they would like to be placed in their box and then prepare it for them.
2020-04-14 06:16:16 PM taylorracine my residents love categories
2020-04-14 06:16:27 PM jenniferslockbower we used to do Spa Day as an activity every friday and do nails and hand massage, but we have had to stop that as well
2020-04-14 06:16:29 PM jjmiller227 Drone would be great
2020-04-14 06:16:37 PM ehorton yes!!!!

2020-04-14 06:16:48 PM sbarzak I LIKE THE BOX IDEA BUT DONT LEAVE THE LIST AROUND BC IF THEY ARENT FOLLOWING IT, YOU CAN BE CITED
2020-04-14 06:16:49 PM taylorracine we dont do nails either right now
2020-04-14 06:17:06 PM jennifervasquez15 Our staff actually did a little show for the residents they where able to see us sing and dance from their balconies, it was needed out residents loved it.
2020-04-14 06:17:20 PM patricia5 love that
2020-04-14 06:17:23 PM bduncan taylorracine why arent you guys doing nails?

2020-04-14 06:17:41 PM emilyac We can only do nails if we use a polish the resident owns, no sharing.
2020-04-14 06:17:44 PM careyjeff ALL IMM SAYING IS STATE INSPECTORS BETTER GIVE US A BREASK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2020-04-14 06:17:49 PM emilyac PREACH!
2020-04-14 06:17:53 PM cak06008 a few residents have been "blaming" their families for not visiting
2020-04-14 06:17:58 PM dani enter the chat room
2020-04-14 06:18:02 PM cak06008 that is tough to redirect
2020-04-14 06:18:05 PM teresabradley We are doing doing nails in the rooms.
2020-04-14 06:18:06 PM taylorracine i would hope surveyors would give us a break but im not so sure
2020-04-14 06:18:09 PM jenniferslockbower I think because our facility has so many positive cases they are trying to stop the spread, so no personal care from our department
2020-04-14 06:18:31 PM tiffanyd thats scary
2020-04-14 06:18:39 PM clarissam everyone stay safe
2020-04-14 06:18:39 PM flossie I heard state was only doing infection control and such right now but they will follow up with activities and other things after this...

2020-04-14 06:18:44 PM ehorton I concur on the inspectors..lol
2020-04-14 06:18:44 PM flossie ({)
2020-04-14 06:18:47 PM bduncan I think that this is making the residents very confused
2020-04-14 06:19:07 PM lynnh i heart that too
2020-04-14 06:19:13 PM lynnh heard
