2015-01-14 07:51:07 PM brycegray My first suggestion... Stage a room. Have a table where you can provide individual activities (magazines, brain games, coloring, etc...). Encourage people that do not want to participate in the activity provide at that moment to choose something from the table. You may need to "Help" them make that choice/encourage decision making.

My new assistant starts on the 21st so i work sun-fri and on saturdays when I'm not there the CNA's try to lead simple activities. I think the different tables idea would help me a lot.

We serve refreshment and freshly baked cookies with coffee at 10 am and 3 pm and with that alone it consumes a lot of time. We are doind that..to offer books, magazine, etc..but some residents are just...you know what I mean.

Refereshments in my facility are always served on the top of the cart, the lower part of the cart always has 1:1/room visit activities. Kill two birds!
