2015-09-10 06:07:41 PM kathyhughes You usually do a quarterly note based on what the residents did the last 3 months

2015-09-10 06:08:22 PM pam74 I do quarterly and annual to
2015-09-10 06:08:28 PM katieok11 when there is a sign. change do you then change the date to 3 months after that?
2015-09-10 06:08:29 PM jorey So I have the hardest time with my practicum advisors. they dont want to meet with me weekly, its frustrating!
2015-09-10 06:08:32 PM nancyzmc We do quarterlies and annuals
2015-09-10 06:08:38 PM katieok11 to be the next Q or A
2015-09-10 06:08:38 PM bonnieb58 I think it is easier cgbrown 97
2015-09-10 06:08:38 PM sdavis The same i think
2015-09-10 06:08:39 PM kathyhughes no
2015-09-10 06:09:09 PM kim1 My advisor is never available to discuss stuff with me.
2015-09-10 06:09:11 PM char Jorey i am having the same issue
2015-09-10 06:09:12 PM kathyhughes it should not change the dates

2015-09-10 06:09:14 PM sdavis no kathy
2015-09-10 06:09:23 PM jorey Harder huh!? any study suggestions?
2015-09-10 06:09:32 PM katieok11 so then you would still do the Q 3 months after the previous Q even if it is close to the sign. change?
2015-09-10 06:09:34 PM lindaz enter the chat room
2015-09-10 06:09:36 PM lisam i cant get rid of my advisor
2015-09-10 06:09:40 PM cbrockway you should write on the careplan updated info and the date you added the info but the ARD stays the same
2015-09-10 06:09:41 PM bonnieb58 My advisor is really good....she is very involved with my work
2015-09-10 06:09:42 PM carolk9 I have a pretty good practicum advisor this for this class but for the mepap 1 my practicum advisor wasn't very helpful
2015-09-10 06:09:44 PM kathyhughes We did
2015-09-10 06:09:48 PM katieok11 thanks
2015-09-10 06:09:50 PM lindaz Hi all was in wrong room

2015-09-10 06:10:27 PM bonnieb58 I always print out all of the reading materials ...it helps alot
2015-09-10 06:10:27 PM dbalzumati I do mine too
2015-09-10 06:10:32 PM carolk9 We are in our window for state to come.
2015-09-10 06:10:34 PM liv me too
2015-09-10 06:10:35 PM kathyhughes and the tests are open book
2015-09-10 06:10:37 PM cbrockway does anyone else feel that the first set of questions on our section has little to do with activities? like the preference of shower bed bad etc?
2015-09-10 06:10:37 PM jorey its nice to know that you are struggling too! I am on my third person because no one wants to take them time. I would like to talk about stuff lol
2015-09-10 06:10:44 PM dbalzumati us too
2015-09-10 06:10:49 PM cgibbs I did section f then entered into the computer
2015-09-10 06:10:53 PM jorey Thats an idea pam
2015-09-10 06:10:55 PM katieok11 cbrockway i agree
2015-09-10 06:10:59 PM carlisa903 no just section f for the program we are on
2015-09-10 06:11:02 PM cgibbs then CAA<s
2015-09-10 06:11:08 PM jorey thats funny lisa!!
2015-09-10 06:11:12 PM cgibbs sometimes
2015-09-10 06:11:15 PM carolk9 Yes I wish I had more help to. I don't understand alot of paperwork.
2015-09-10 06:11:16 PM cbrockway yay CAA's! said nobody ever!
2015-09-10 06:11:19 PM lenad so the adc test is a mix of both?
2015-09-10 06:11:23 PM katieok11 esp since SW is usually the one to give the resident a key for their drawer
2015-09-10 06:11:24 PM nancyzmc do you alll have the ridiculous inteviews to do with your residents - the one from the federal govt
2015-09-10 06:11:38 PM bonnieb58 We are waiting for our state surveyors....they have been in the area
2015-09-10 06:11:41 PM dbalzumati yes
2015-09-10 06:11:42 PM jorey thanks for the tip Diann
2015-09-10 06:11:45 PM kathyhughes Christin....I always thought that the CAA's should be the real questions and the questions on the MDS don't make sense
2015-09-10 06:11:48 PM lindaz Yes we have interviews
2015-09-10 06:12:04 PM carlisa903 that varies if uou are chosing 1 or 0 on the mds when you start
2015-09-10 06:12:07 PM katieok11 state just left us today and we got a clean bill with zero deficiencies in the facility!
2015-09-10 06:12:07 PM cgibbs Hmmmmmm
2015-09-10 06:12:12 PM tinab what is a CAA?
2015-09-10 06:12:17 PM kathyhughes The NCCAP exam covers both sections of the MEPAP
2015-09-10 06:12:21 PM pam74 i agree with you kathy
2015-09-10 06:12:22 PM cbrockway exactly.. the CAA's trigger when they answer too many fours its really stupid
2015-09-10 06:12:27 PM kathyhughes Care Area ASsessments
2015-09-10 06:12:30 PM bonnieb58 thats great katieok11
2015-09-10 06:12:32 PM cgibbs that is an interesting way to look at it
2015-09-10 06:12:34 PM kathyhughes it is part of the MDS
2015-09-10 06:12:35 PM carolk9 I used to get nervous when I was a CNA and they came I always hoped that I would be off on the days they were there.
2015-09-10 06:12:37 PM katieok11 thanks :)
2015-09-10 06:12:40 PM lindaz Where do you take the NCCAP test
2015-09-10 06:12:43 PM cbrockway its usually rehab people who dont want anything to do with activities
2015-09-10 06:12:44 PM krisy1 Yea Katieok11
2015-09-10 06:12:48 PM tinab Is that nursing home versusALF?
2015-09-10 06:12:49 PM katew It is sometimes awkward to ask about the shower/bath thing but I get that we are looking at preferences not just activity interest. Recreation is about quality of life in addition to activity. so it makes sense in a loose way to me
2015-09-10 06:12:59 PM katieok11 def nervewraqcking
2015-09-10 06:13:02 PM cbrockway its different for LT people who trigger r/t depression/anxiety
2015-09-10 06:13:08 PM kim1 Last time we had state out, they said we have to ask how often they would like to be bathed/showered, and then we have to give this info to the bath aides or the DON. We have to do a "bath audit" once a week, too--pick someone and see if they feel they are getting bathed/showered enough.
2015-09-10 06:13:19 PM cbrockway or other conditions of cognitive loss or sensory stuff
2015-09-10 06:13:20 PM jorey Thanks Kathy, actually one thing my advisior did say is that i make too many lists lol and it wasnt a compliment
2015-09-10 06:13:22 PM kathyhughes Once you apply to NCCAP for your certification they will send you the information about where the test sites are in your state
2015-09-10 06:13:32 PM bonnieb58 Kathy....what type of test is the NCCAP test
2015-09-10 06:13:39 PM katieok11 kim1 dont many residents complain that they are not bathed much?
2015-09-10 06:13:51 PM carlisa903 we are in our window now waiting on full book
2015-09-10 06:13:52 PM kathyhughes Mutiple choice
2015-09-10 06:13:59 PM cbrockway woot

2015-09-10 06:14:23 PM nancyzmc which tests did you say were open book, Kathy
2015-09-10 06:14:27 PM dbalzumati I thought you send the questions
2015-09-10 06:14:28 PM katieok11 do we get more then 1 try to pass the NCCAP?
2015-09-10 06:14:33 PM kathyhughes No you can not take anything with you

2015-09-10 06:14:51 PM kathyhughes the open book tests are here for these classes

2015-09-10 06:15:06 PM kathyhughes You can take the exam as many times as you want
2015-09-10 06:15:14 PM dbalzumati The test we had are those the questions
2015-09-10 06:15:15 PM katieok11 phew
2015-09-10 06:15:15 PM cbrockway does it cost each time thought?
2015-09-10 06:15:15 PM kathyhughes but you have to pay each time
2015-09-10 06:15:20 PM cbrockway yea
2015-09-10 06:15:23 PM kathyhughes yes Denise

2015-09-10 06:16:47 PM carolk9 I planned alot of different things for the residents to do last December and they didn't want to do anything. Like crafts one person told me to sit and do it myself and they would watch. And one person said I don't want to do that "junk"... they used to send that to us in Korea...lol
2015-09-10 06:16:56 PM lisam that is excellent that your rehab people are involved like that that is how it is at my facility
2015-09-10 06:16:57 PM kathyhughes I am not sure Tony it would be for MEPAP2
2015-09-10 06:17:06 PM kathyhughes If you can't find it let me know

2015-09-10 06:18:03 PM kathyhughes You know the best Christmas activities were the ones that were planned by the residents and were simple
2015-09-10 06:18:17 PM cbrockway carol - you just need to find ways to motivate each person, everyone has a love language!
2015-09-10 06:18:19 PM carlisa903 yes in deed we had the red carpet and all with a scene setter

2015-09-10 06:20:37 PM bonnieb58 We had something a little different for Labor Day....we had all of our Departments set a table up with information about their department....example Nursing taking blood pressure, dietary...food samples , etc. The residents could come in and go to each table and get a little information...It was a big success
