2017-02-21 07:29:38 PM jeant If you always do your job you shouldn't worry about the state.
2017-02-21 07:29:39 PM denisewiit my resident council is more of an informal chat
2017-02-21 07:29:42 PM sherika1 NO

2017-02-21 07:36:06 PM chelseytimreck and we are sure to document any refusals
2017-02-21 07:36:14 PM akoppel us too
2017-02-21 07:36:14 PM catiah my facility has elevator, so we need at least 30 min to transfer the residents to activity room
2017-02-21 07:36:15 PM kathyhughes WE had 4 floors
2017-02-21 07:36:17 PM denisewiit its just tough when you are alone for the day
2017-02-21 07:36:17 PM sandy1 left the chat room
2017-02-21 07:36:18 PM asjodin we all transport too
2017-02-21 07:36:18 PM mgarnica most the time, its a huge team efffort getting residents to places in the facility
2017-02-21 07:36:25 PM jeant We walk through our 2 wings looking for people to come down to Happy Hour on Friday.
2017-02-21 07:36:27 PM nikki06 ive seen an awesome culture change in my 3 years at my community. we didnt have much help when i started but now alot of the cnas are pitching in bringing people to and from programs. I cannot thank them enough. I work with 7 floors of residents and elevators are such a pain!
2017-02-21 07:36:30 PM chelseytimreck oh wow 4 floors!!
2017-02-21 07:36:31 PM ebreeves what if they dont really want to go do you advertise and entice
2017-02-21 07:36:33 PM conniew we transport before hand as well, I go around the facility and remind the CNA's about the program and challenge them to see how many of their patients that can get to attend and then give some kind of reward or recognition to the CNA with the most patients in attendance
2017-02-21 07:36:33 PM janicelawrence6 chelseytimreck: Never thought of that
2017-02-21 07:36:34 PM catiah we have 4 floors too
2017-02-21 07:36:41 PM marilumolina thats on my agenda for my in-service TEAM WORK!!

2017-02-21 07:36:45 PM mgarnica encourage
2017-02-21 07:36:51 PM kittyf The staff are very good at making sure every one is in the dining room and in the right place.
2017-02-21 07:36:57 PM shannamschofield we page the activity 15 min before the start we also pass out a flyer every morning of all the things going on through the day with the time and location that seems to help some
2017-02-21 07:36:58 PM akoppel one floor two wings as well
2017-02-21 07:37:03 PM shubbard720 ebreeves remind them they do not have to stay if they don't want to, let them know they can maybe just go and observe an activity
2017-02-21 07:37:08 PM mgarnica smart to pass out a flye
2017-02-21 07:37:08 PM kathyhughes There are many people who prefer to stay in their rooms....many refuse....it is their right to refuse
2017-02-21 07:37:10 PM auazuibke0114 yes i usually invite resident for activity
2017-02-21 07:37:12 PM chelseytimreck yes you should always invite and advertise and try to convince them sometimes just saying there is food is enough
2017-02-21 07:37:12 PM shubbard720 Bribery also works
2017-02-21 07:37:17 PM nikki06 chocolate!
2017-02-21 07:37:17 PM kathyhughes we would document their refusal
2017-02-21 07:37:19 PM jeant Teamwork is so important- I wish everyone was on board with that!
2017-02-21 07:37:24 PM akoppel oh yea (lol)
2017-02-21 07:37:28 PM denisewiit document everything
2017-02-21 07:37:28 PM debra we currently have an issue with a couple nurses who won't allow the residents to attend the activity until after they give them their meds .... often 4-5 don't end up coming. working with the unit director to get this straightened out.
2017-02-21 07:37:28 PM kathyhughes Food always works
2017-02-21 07:37:32 PM valarie17 yes
2017-02-21 07:37:33 PM mgarnica we have to have a refusal for each activity
2017-02-21 07:37:45 PM ebreeves how many activities a year is a standard
2017-02-21 07:37:49 PM jeant left the chat room
2017-02-21 07:37:53 PM auazuibke0114 yes i sometimes use activity log for that
2017-02-21 07:37:53 PM catiah I delivery the daily every morning during their breakfast , so they know whats is going on . Same can come to activity by themself
2017-02-21 07:37:54 PM kathyhughes I would bring it up in care planning
2017-02-21 07:38:06 PM janicelawrence6 AL and Skilled nursing not allowed to be move than 1 level. Fire Department rule
2017-02-21 07:38:10 PM kathyhughes There is no Standard for the amount of activities
2017-02-21 07:38:15 PM denisewiit we have room visits planned each day
2017-02-21 07:38:22 PM chelseytimreck do you all document how they participate in activity like passivy or activly or you just make that they are there?
2017-02-21 07:38:29 PM debra Kathy if you're talking to me, i don't attend any care planning meetings :( hopefully that will change!
2017-02-21 07:38:34 PM abigail i give cookies to my residents or other snack so they come to activities
2017-02-21 07:38:36 PM dorisr2001 I document on an ipad
2017-02-21 07:38:37 PM chelseytimreck we do daily room visits as well
2017-02-21 07:38:39 PM denisewiit i do chelsey
2017-02-21 07:38:39 PM shubbard720 Chelsey we say passive or active
2017-02-21 07:38:42 PM kittyf It seems chocolote is always the answer and sugar free.
2017-02-21 07:38:46 PM kathyhughes We would write a note about what they did the past 3 months
2017-02-21 07:38:49 PM marilumolina we do chart P. O. A.
2017-02-21 07:38:50 PM nikki06 just attendance or refusal. i use careplans to discuss the level of participation
2017-02-21 07:38:50 PM conniew activie, passive
2017-02-21 07:38:53 PM mgarnica active, passive, observed, refused-in bed, resident refused, not available, passive
2017-02-21 07:38:55 PM mgarnica all ones we use
2017-02-21 07:38:55 PM shannamschofield we dont have care plan meetings either
2017-02-21 07:38:55 PM chelseytimreck i wish we were electronic
2017-02-21 07:38:57 PM wandapoulson does assisted living have to do care planning
2017-02-21 07:39:05 PM denisewiit we put little notes on our forms
2017-02-21 07:39:12 PM kathyhughes No they usually do service plans
2017-02-21 07:39:14 PM denisewiit what their reactions were
2017-02-21 07:39:18 PM shawna I have one tough nurse who wont let residents have coffee after meals because they havent drank all their water.
2017-02-21 07:39:19 PM dorisr2001 being electronic makes it much easier
2017-02-21 07:39:27 PM shubbard720 We write progress notes for each resident--I wish activities were included on our kiosks
2017-02-21 07:39:34 PM akoppel thats ridiculous
2017-02-21 07:39:38 PM auazuibke0114 yes there are active and passive participant and i also document it
2017-02-21 07:39:44 PM asjodin i agree
2017-02-21 07:39:51 PM kittyf left the chat room
2017-02-21 07:39:54 PM auazuibke0114 totally agreed
2017-02-21 07:39:57 PM shubbard720 We have certain residents that we document refusals for, but not enough time to write a note for every refusal
2017-02-21 07:39:58 PM chelseytimreck they are trying to go electronic at our facility but we will see how soon that will happen
2017-02-21 07:39:59 PM nikki06 for AL i do a quartlerly meeting with the activity staff and we write an activity note for them. I keep it documented. never had to show the notes, but makes me feel good that I have them if i ever need.
2017-02-21 07:39:59 PM shannamschofield thats against the residents rights

2017-02-21 07:41:56 PM marciatrimiew I'm learning a lot through this conversation. Team work, documenting, making sure that people attend the program can be challenging. Is Care Planning done daily or at the beginning of the month for each person?
