2017-03-14 06:47:12 PM mfskal sometimes the work is exhausting, but a successful activity and happy residents is worth every effort, even after 35 years as an act direct.

2017-03-14 06:47:29 PM erikalmascia I wouldn't want to ask the family. I do think that writing a list of what the department needs and posting it, is a good idea.
2017-03-14 06:47:31 PM theresehoward it is so fultilling
2017-03-14 06:47:31 PM kirstensch7 our families pay a lot already for having resident living there. I would feel bad to ask for more

2017-03-14 06:47:59 PM auazuibke0114 good sop
2017-03-14 06:47:59 PM erikalmascia You don't have to ask people that way. If they want to help out, they will and if not, you didn't put them in a werird situation.
2017-03-14 06:48:03 PM shaminab29 some families love to help and be involved
2017-03-14 06:48:04 PM mzonneville we have a resident that likes her wine, we give her ginger ale and cranberry juice she loves it
2017-03-14 06:48:04 PM jsutherland to me asking a family for a dontation for their mother seems like i cant provide what he or shes family member needs but yet they pay 4000 a month
2017-03-14 06:48:07 PM ebreeves ask familiies for ideas for fundraiser maybe one will shine
2017-03-14 06:48:13 PM martins84 I would like to do fundraisers too but i do not know were to begin and i do not want to sound like im begging or desperate. We only get 250 a month
2017-03-14 06:48:20 PM janicelawrence6 heatherlynnn4: we serve coffee cookies and pass the microphone! The residents love to talk abotu those who have passed
2017-03-14 06:48:23 PM mariauv jsutherland i agree
2017-03-14 06:48:29 PM jsutherland giving somthing in return is better than asking for a hand out

2017-03-14 06:48:40 PM shazelbaker0831 we do a monthly cook off between department heads. We have a trophy and there is bragging rights involved and the residents vote on the winner they loved it

2017-03-14 06:49:15 PM kirstensch7 my familes pay way more than $4000 a month. A couple easily pays like $10000 a month for 2 rooms in our dementia unit
2017-03-14 06:49:19 PM kathyhughes It was actually charged to Dietary
2017-03-14 06:49:20 PM lanaf About the budget; remember to "use" all thatyou have in your budget, both for services and supplies because if you have any over at the end of the year, they'll think you don't need that much and your budget will be cut for the next year.I found that out the hard way a long time ago.
2017-03-14 06:49:20 PM bbradshaw I want to do a chili cook off but don't know what to get for the prize
2017-03-14 06:49:30 PM asjodin A trophy!
2017-03-14 06:49:31 PM jrothermel85 we shouldn't have to ask but it is coming down to it. 15 cents a day for a budget isn't a good ideal for me
2017-03-14 06:49:32 PM rissarie2013 wow thats crazy
2017-03-14 06:49:34 PM kathyhughes Because they got their drink at lunch time
2017-03-14 06:49:36 PM jsutherland im a rehab so they pay daily for how ever long they need

2017-03-14 06:49:54 PM mfskal we get tons of donations from families and organizations, but with the good you have to deal with the crap... excuse my language. when we get stuff that is not at all usable for our residents, we just donate to a local goodwill.

2017-03-14 06:54:28 PM mfskal we have a local grocery store trader joe's donate flowers that are form their florisd dept, that are starting to "go" ... our residents came down with empty vases and made arrangements and took them to their rooms.. we aer going to try to arrange for that to be a scheduleable donation to make it happen and we can put it on the calendar instead of just impromptu

2017-03-14 06:54:29 PM lanaf Having someone from the Office of Aging at your Resident Council "is" a great idea. Sometime's a resident is hesident to speakup about any concerns , so having someone from outside of the facility, makes them less anxious. I make sure to have one there every month, and they come all the time to visit as well so thry get to know them. AND, in turn that will help your state visits as well.
