2017-04-04 06:27:28 PM johnl We do a walk of honor for whenever a resident passes away. When the funeral home arrives, that's when we do the ceremony. Staff then line up along the hallway from the resident room to the door
2017-04-04 06:27:33 PM joanne44 The lady I am taking overs job has been 20 years and is burnt out, she is my advisor but the residents need a new face with sum spunk

2017-04-04 06:29:01 PM desiep3805 The Walk of Honor is a great idea, b ut we would not be allowed to do that because some of the family members would be offended (past experience) and some of the residents become depressed (past experience)
2017-04-04 06:29:01 PM alennon I enjoy the acvitites way more than the paperwork
2017-04-04 06:29:02 PM dominiquesow Directors have so much paper works to do... I have seen ours.. but she does activities on top of it all

2017-04-04 06:31:10 PM 972940 This is the first time I have worked in a nursing home. I have to say I love the residents and so happy to work with them. But the paper work is killin me. It has been a learning curve of about 6 months for me.
2017-04-04 06:31:11 PM alishabranham I am from Michigan
2017-04-04 06:31:12 PM erikalmascia She took all my suggestions and ran with them.

2017-04-04 06:31:16 PM cindymay I have the only cognitive activity program in our area. So I have a high funtioning activity program and a low functioning program
2017-04-04 06:31:20 PM crystalclt23 we have 120 beds and just me doing the paperwork and activities and shopping
2017-04-04 06:31:23 PM hopetoben Kathy, I need some advice. My residents are very sweet to myself and the other staff. However, they are downright cruel to each other. Hitting, throwing things, racist comments, ect. I have set a rule for my activities that there will be no fighting or else I will kick them out. This has helped during activities but not during meals and down time. I thought by adding more activities during the day I could cut back on the hateful behavior but it isn’t helping. What can I do to get the residents to stop being mean to each other?
2017-04-04 06:31:24 PM erikalmascia We work well together.
2017-04-04 06:31:24 PM desiep3805 I am in a 225 bed facility that has 2 vent units, a dialysis unit and a Dementia Care unit. It is very hard as an AD to assist with activities regularly, but most often I manage
2017-04-04 06:31:31 PM taras Between 80-90 residents. One AD. 3 assistants.
2017-04-04 06:31:47 PM jodie583 Cindy - you are truly blessed :) I am happy for you to have that level of help - so neat!

2017-04-04 06:32:07 PM aleda What about pairing them, in twos asking them if they can get back to you and share details on the other res they get points
2017-04-04 06:32:13 PM dorisr2001 hopetoben Have you tlked to them
2017-04-04 06:32:20 PM ashleyabell 45-50 residents one AD and one pt assistant
2017-04-04 06:32:25 PM christinadepolo As an AD wish I had more time to be present in many of the activities but between paperwork, careplan mtgs, QA, along with ordering supplies and planning out monthly activiities its difficult.

2017-04-04 06:32:27 PM 8800971 hopetoben do you have behavior interventions

2017-04-04 06:36:05 PM maryjane1 hopetoben, I had people making fun of each other, and it was hurtful. I stopped our activity one day and told them that I would have to ask them to leave if they didn't stop, and that we are all here for each other. I told them that theywere all each other had. Some people who are doing well may not be one day, and the very people that they are making fun of now, may be the ones that help them later.
