2018-08-09 06:28:36 PM kathyhughes It cost me a large pizza each Sunday as families started to attend and they brought treats
2018-08-09 06:28:42 PM lindsaypkrull We also have huge budget cuts. It's frustrating because we can't do as many fun activities as we would like
2018-08-09 06:28:43 PM melissaz We kind of have two men's groups: Vet's Group and the Men's Group. They evolved into the Vet's Group being more educational/speaker oriented and the Men's Group being more of a social group.
2018-08-09 06:29:01 PM rickyd Last friday was national watermelon day, so we feed everyone watermelon. We were going to have a seed spitting contest, but couldn't find a non "Seedless" watermelon anywhere... i guess they're all hybrids now.lol
2018-08-09 06:29:03 PM kathyhughes And the ladies would sneak in during halftime
2018-08-09 06:29:09 PM martyr58 wonderful idea Kathy. Families are happy to bring in food.

2018-08-09 06:31:05 PM martyr58 The tailgating party every Sunday would give a specific time for the families to bring stuff if it was weekly.
2018-08-09 06:31:06 PM sunshine2018 we have coffee hour with the cooperation daily
2018-08-09 06:31:10 PM lindsaypkrull We have a few family members that come in for activities, however, a lot of families will just take the residents back to their rooms to visit, which is fine, but it would be nice for them to participate with us.
2018-08-09 06:31:27 PM amymc We do dining in once a month. The residents pay for their meals from a resident if they want to participate

2018-08-09 06:32:34 PM rickyd We're planning a "tail-gating" party for one of the Thursday night football games. All the details are not complete, but we're going to include staff, family, and residents. I hoping to include drawings and door prizes; and maybe our own half-time show with staff and residents as the entertainment.
2018-08-09 06:32:35 PM sunshine2018 we dried fish after the residents went fishing. we cleaned them and the resident told stories of their childhood in the native villages
2018-08-09 06:32:44 PM jenniferr2018 if you add music to the family program will they still go back to their rooms as quick

2018-08-09 06:45:46 PM kathyhughes No we actually made most of our supplies and materials
2018-08-09 06:45:49 PM lisaad yes we have those rubber indoor horseshoes but not anyway to pitch them to naything!
2018-08-09 06:45:51 PM melissaz Oh rubber is good, I thought there is no way they are using regular horseshoes for this!
2018-08-09 06:46:09 PM sunshine2018 we have a really good budget, my DON orders anything I ask for
2018-08-09 06:46:14 PM jenniferr2018 yep..broken window
2018-08-09 06:46:15 PM jadams69 big red plastic target on floor, toss bean bags, keep score
2018-08-09 06:46:20 PM kathyhughes we would look for all sorts of ideas and games...we took the residents to garage sales
2018-08-09 06:46:24 PM martyr58 I need to get the independent residents to help.
2018-08-09 06:46:36 PM sfaria We play cornhole and everyone loves it!
2018-08-09 06:46:43 PM jadams69 use to have ig plastic pennies but tey would rather use bean bags
2018-08-09 06:46:44 PM kathyhughes We had to make whatever we came up with
2018-08-09 06:46:49 PM sunshine2018 we do cake walks hey love it
2018-08-09 06:46:50 PM lindsaypkrull We don't have a very large budget so we have to be resourceful with our materials
2018-08-09 06:47:16 PM amymc We are getting a bbig budget cut next year
2018-08-09 06:47:18 PM mmierez what is a cake walk
2018-08-09 06:47:21 PM martyr58 we aren't allowed to take the residents out, but the garage sales are a great idea.
2018-08-09 06:47:22 PM kathyhughes We also would ride around neighborhoods looking for free things
2018-08-09 06:47:46 PM sunshine2018 I wished so much that I could share my pictures of the residents they are awesome

2018-08-09 06:48:23 PM kathyhughes we would go through things and then donate what was left
2018-08-09 06:48:24 PM lisaad the coordinator at our day center has posted things on her wishlist to her town's facebook page and she gets tons of great donations--maybe try asking for a cornhole set
2018-08-09 06:48:36 PM lindsaypkrull That's a good idea to ask staff and families for extra things from their garage sales.
2018-08-09 06:48:38 PM sunshine2018 my DON does not like it if I ask for donations
2018-08-09 06:48:42 PM jadams69 yes i do yard sales, flea mrkets, junk yards, pick up stuff by the road, lol
2018-08-09 06:48:43 PM martyr58 where did you store the stuff---we don't even have a storage closet!

2018-08-09 06:49:10 PM sunshine2018 I go myself to yard sales etc to get things for the activities
2018-08-09 06:49:16 PM lisaad our storage closet is a bathtub/shower area!
2018-08-09 06:49:21 PM kathyhughes We would go through everything and then take the leftover to goodwill...

2018-08-09 06:50:33 PM amymc We charge the staff 2.00 for wearing them on Fridays
2018-08-09 06:50:38 PM lindsaypkrull Our closet is really full of junk we need to go through
2018-08-09 06:50:43 PM lisaad so if they wear jeans they have to pay somebody?
2018-08-09 06:50:53 PM melissaz Charging for casual days is a good fundraising idea!
