I started as an aide last August at my facility (our director was a friend from college who needed help) and in november when she went on maternity leave, she never came back and got another job. So they offered me the job, and to go through this course. So I've been learning as I've been going!

We offer in room activities like word search, coloring, books, magazines etc...We kind of just check in with them and see how they are doing and if they need anything.

They dont have alot of varitey but my admin doesnt want me going to stores right now for personal trips. (and I think thats a really good thing) but I feel helpless to get people motivated by anything.

We even painted little flower pots and planted mini daisies so they can watch them grow in their room...There is really only so much you can do..

Most of the time people just want to talk or be listened to. Then there are the others that dont have any interest in that either. But seeing a friendly face that isn't a nurse is always good.
