2015-04-21 06:19:45 PM hopi1974 and the non smokers get so mad cuz the smoke comes back in the building
2015-04-21 06:19:45 PM kim1 Our residents have a s"smoking assessment." They can't smoke unless they can get themselves outside and back in. So we have residnts who are upset that they can't smoke--we recommend electric smokes.
2015-04-21 06:19:48 PM kwilliams128 we have to go out with them 3x a day and light the cigs. Its such a hassle to make sure they are all on time

2015-04-21 06:20:14 PM tracym my facility still allows smoking
2015-04-21 06:20:17 PM karnak14 j9sparkley We were until 3 mo ago, having residents choose favorite employee. Different dpt. each mos. $25. g/c to Panera bread and pic on wall. Residents enjoyed Bagels andcoffee with them. Stopped because a lot of the employees chosen didn't come in to get their card and acknowledgement from residents.
2015-04-21 06:20:19 PM pisces yes we have smokers too but they all have designated areas to smoke in
2015-04-21 06:20:19 PM ericapond enter the chat room

2015-04-21 06:20:57 PM cbrockway i wanna do a casino night, and ask staff who have ipads to download a slots game, and make the "machines" from cardboard thats been painted, and set the ipads in a cut out of the slot machine box so its actually like sitting at a slot machine. and as another staff member to do black jack at one table, and poker and etc at other tables, roulette, it would be so fun
2015-04-21 06:21:01 PM mboyd needless to say they were banned from reutrning to our facilities
2015-04-21 06:21:03 PM kwilliams128 Their designated smoking area is outside of the activity room.. So they have to come all the way over to us. One guy has o2 so we have to take his tank and put in our office while he is out there
2015-04-21 06:21:07 PM fawnw Mother's Day tea
2015-04-21 06:21:08 PM reneebragg we dont allow elec. cigs either
2015-04-21 06:21:09 PM barbb only smoke 3x day?? ours have 7 smoke breaks every day w/ 3 different smoke rooms (1st, 2nd & 3rd floors)
2015-04-21 06:21:14 PM ccoleman26 I have six residnets that smoke and the situation is always a troublesome one. We currently have a smoke room and each resident has their own box locked up with their cigarettes and lighters. There are 7 smoking times per day in which we unlock the doors and distribute their cigarettes. My Administrator is new and wants to let the residents smoke outside instead, but the rest of the staff including the Social Worker is livid at the fact of letting them go in and out as they please without supervision. SO it;s hectic right now. My facility is smoke free for employees and residnet families, but not for the 6 smokers who are grandfathered in.
2015-04-21 06:21:17 PM phylliskrastanov we had a safety inservice and we watched a video of a resident who lit himself on fire accidentally while smoking

2015-04-21 06:21:32 PM tracym I"ve seen a resident fill a room up with smoke from an e-cig when they constantly smoke from it

2015-04-21 06:21:46 PM kwilliams128 Our admin. keeps saying people who dont follow the rules and smoke out front or have lighters on their person will be kicked out.. but i havent seen anyone kicked out yet! They just keep sneaking outside
2015-04-21 06:21:48 PM kim1 We have a resident who eloped a couple of weeks ago, and he has a wander guard now and sets off the alarm when he goes outside. We are always having to bring him back in.
