2015-12-15 07:35:57 PM amandaw but its so rewarding
2015-12-15 07:36:01 PM michelle145 what all training do you need to be a director
2015-12-15 07:36:04 PM kandra1 That along time to work in one place
2015-12-15 07:36:14 PM wrendillon Training? the trick is to FIRST DO NO HARM, and the rest is to just pretend I know what I'm doing. Everyone is convinced. LOL.
2015-12-15 07:36:17 PM amber88 i wasnt sure about the elf on the shelf either. but my administartor put four elves around the building and if you find one you have to find the name on it and tell her where you found it and you get a prize. your name goes in a drawing and at the end of the week she will draw a name and you will get an even bigger prize
2015-12-15 07:36:23 PM kathyhughes It was fabulous!
2015-12-15 07:36:25 PM barbz615 we are still doing the directors job so by the time I am certified I'll have experiece

2015-12-15 07:37:36 PM amber88 ive been in activities for two years. need one more year to be director certified. :)
2015-12-15 07:37:42 PM kathyhughes Apply for certification
2015-12-15 07:37:42 PM skershaw when you make your monthly calanders,, do you put most everything on it daily? do you hang one at every single bed in facilty? or can you put one on the door of the room? i was told it was a state thing to hang one up at every bed??
2015-12-15 07:37:47 PM maryc2 I am going to do that next year Kathy I am still wrapping presents
2015-12-15 07:37:52 PM michelle145 how do you do that
2015-12-15 07:38:05 PM wrendillon I transferred to a sister facility to become the directior. My former boss was upset because "I never showed interest in taking MEPAP before". I look at what I did as an aid, what I do now as a director, and wonder when I was going to do coursework. I make what I'm doing in class fit my calendar and it works WITH my job, not just another set of deadlines and tasks.
2015-12-15 07:38:07 PM kathyhughes Make plans to meet me in Raleigh NC in June
2015-12-15 07:38:09 PM amandaw one for every resident
2015-12-15 07:38:09 PM mliranzo94 ive been in the activity department since i was 17 so for about four years
2015-12-15 07:38:11 PM barbz615 I'll probably need another year I was part time for 2 years
2015-12-15 07:38:19 PM jwhite we do not have one at every bed
2015-12-15 07:38:26 PM barbz615 I may not meet the hours required
2015-12-15 07:38:30 PM hesterj About 16 months.
2015-12-15 07:38:43 PM melissam I give each resident a calendar and they can hang it up if they choose. Many prefer to keep it on a desk or folded up in their walker
2015-12-15 07:38:49 PM kathyhughes I would check your state regs
2015-12-15 07:38:53 PM jwhite oh for the month we give one to every resident
2015-12-15 07:39:06 PM kmdemers i have been in the activity department for the past five years
2015-12-15 07:39:07 PM amber88 we used to put them in every room but then our facility was bought out and then corporate was putting it in our newsletter every month which was given to every resident. now we were just told that they are not doing newsletters anymore expect quartely so i have no idea what we are going to do now
2015-12-15 07:39:09 PM brunnert Thanks Joe! Was just about to correct you. ;)
2015-12-15 07:39:17 PM kathyhughes It can be an Urban Legend
2015-12-15 07:39:26 PM stephaniesassa mine get sent home to the family
2015-12-15 07:39:42 PM carlosm2015 In my facility u place the calendars in a designated board in the residents room usually on the wall in front of the residents bed.
2015-12-15 07:39:52 PM kmdemers left the chat room
2015-12-15 07:39:52 PM kmdemers enter the chat room
2015-12-15 07:39:53 PM kathyhughes In NY you have to have it posted but the residents do not get individual calendard
2015-12-15 07:40:14 PM kandra1 why not?
2015-12-15 07:40:20 PM kathyhughes And hanging the calendar becomes wallpaper
