2013-05-23 06:17:33 PM dwhite The Toastmasters I visitied were a bit odd. It was more creative speaking than for business. They dressed up and eveyrhing!
2013-05-23 06:17:42 PM kathyhughes Like the Kwanis, but they concentrate on public speaking
2013-05-23 06:17:45 PM richardsonl left the chat room
2013-05-23 06:17:50 PM rvmann Yup, our speaker told us about using any activitiy that gets us moving to help excersize our residents. how about an imaginary kyak?
2013-05-23 06:18:03 PM jadreani wow
2013-05-23 06:18:11 PM cathymayle Give it a try

2013-05-23 06:18:53 PM kathyhughes I prefer Toastmasters because it will let you network with people working on their communication skills

2013-05-23 06:19:08 PM jenniferboos30 very cool
2013-05-23 06:19:10 PM christine41 Denny's would be very distracting for me. I would be able to catch the topics the speaker is saying :)
2013-05-23 06:19:12 PM rvmann the suggestion was to use a dowel or pvc pipe for the oar then as an imaginary fishing pole
2013-05-23 06:19:21 PM kmcooley I'll have to learn Don Ho's song...better thatn Row Row Row!
2013-05-23 06:19:27 PM richardsonl enter the chat room

2013-05-23 06:22:37 PM babieofseven I do some yoga

2013-05-23 06:23:07 PM jblackmon my like to play in a circle with a soft ball to kick and a balloon to toss
2013-05-23 06:23:08 PM barbalbert no
2013-05-23 06:23:12 PM rvmann I would like a wii and bowling....

2013-05-23 06:24:11 PM cwagner58 On the whole I have to be really creative with exercise... all say they want it but when it's time... they don't want to. We do the macarena, ring toss, a version of corn hole, hokey pokey.... balloon volley...... videos don't work well with my people.... possibly because of the varying function levels in our building.
2013-05-23 06:24:23 PM rvmann my residents hear from another facility that we bowling is great. I have the full size pins and ball but it takes so much and only one can bowl at a time.
2013-05-23 06:24:25 PM barbalbert i got paint samples which are fee and do memory game with colors
2013-05-23 06:24:48 PM rvmann the rest get tired of waiting their turn if many try to play

2013-05-23 06:24:58 PM christine41 thats an awesome idea barbalbert
2013-05-23 06:25:05 PM cwagner58 I have wii bowling... but most at my facility could not grasp it...... looking for some easier games for them.... I do have a few higher functioning that use the wii on their own.
2013-05-23 06:25:10 PM barbalbert budget is tight
2013-05-23 06:25:13 PM kmcooley Yes, I waited until I had three young vonunteers to do the setting up etc for the bowling
2013-05-23 06:25:15 PM kathyhughes Mine didn't like exercising so we would have a 7th Inning stretch during all activities including Bingo
2013-05-23 06:25:18 PM cwagner58 some do get tired of waiting for a turn also.
2013-05-23 06:25:25 PM rvmann the budget is always tight...
2013-05-23 06:25:29 PM jadreani i go around in a circle and ask them to do an exercise and then we all do it together
2013-05-23 06:25:36 PM kathyhughes Get the dice bowling game
2013-05-23 06:25:38 PM barbalbert thats cool
2013-05-23 06:25:42 PM kmcooley We talk a lot during our stretch and flex time

2013-05-23 06:25:55 PM kathyhughes Right Patricia
2013-05-23 06:26:08 PM barbalbert food is always good
2013-05-23 06:26:12 PM kmcooley Beating totals sounds neat...

2013-05-23 06:31:15 PM cwagner58 I am required to have it on the schedule... but it rarely works out that way..... expecially with the really sick or really lower functioning... you have to work with them when they are alert enough/ available.
