2016-10-04 06:25:11 PM kathybrosrt Wheel chair races are simple. line 2 up at a time and encourage them to go to the finish like. some use their feet, some use their hands but they had a blast
2016-10-04 06:25:34 PM rbordelon for rehab we make them one on one patients
2016-10-04 06:25:35 PM heidihartsock we only had one person go at a time and we timed it for w/c races

2016-10-04 06:25:58 PM nleary22 Has anyone done a inservice on dementia? I think someone from the state came and we got to feel what it was like for a resident that has dementia. It was so eye opening even more than I thought it would be.

2016-10-04 06:29:02 PM nleary22 they had us put these things in our shoes that had pokes on them and then we had to put these glasses on and glove and headphones with background noise. They then told us 5 things we had to do or find in the room and we had two minutes. I thought this will be cake! I remembered two things! I really felt like we were going through it! I took probably a minute in a half looking for three red crayons and there wasnt any red!

2016-10-04 06:30:08 PM heidihartsock yeah we have a bus . i've been pushed to do 3-4 a month, which is soooooo hard with the staff i have, but those difficult patients are leaving. i think i need to be in the facility. I would rather do an ice cream social for 20 than take 5 out for ice cream. because all my outings take forever. i was out of the facility today until 1:30
2016-10-04 06:30:11 PM haliea our bus is broken down right now and our residents are not happy lol

2016-10-04 06:33:07 PM kathybrosrt Here's the thing. If they love to shop get volunteers to help. take one resident per staff or volunteer.

2016-10-04 06:33:44 PM dorisb We used to go shopping once a month, but there doesn't seem to be much interest with our current residents. If we need helpers we call on the auxiliary and hope someone volunteers.
2016-10-04 06:33:50 PM isabel1 we can only take those who have money and can transfer. we are only 2 staff and a CNA.
2016-10-04 06:33:51 PM auazuibke0114 Yes It's Kinder hardHeidihart
2016-10-04 06:33:52 PM heidihartsock i only have one to two volunteers and one assistant. i hate to be out all afternoon with only 4 residents
2016-10-04 06:34:07 PM rbordelon we have 2 assitance and the van driver
2016-10-04 06:34:13 PM kathybrosrt Usually my residents only buy what they can hold on their lap. Its the idea of getting out. I also treat them to dairy queen afterwards
2016-10-04 06:34:32 PM kathybrosrt so thats at least 3 people you can take
2016-10-04 06:34:48 PM isabel1 yes the idea is getting out and see the outside world sometimes

2016-10-04 06:35:11 PM dorisb We've stopped to get cheese curds also. They love that for a treat when we're out driving around.
