From that came an increase in resident council, they created an ambassadors club to greet new residents. The men in my community lacked purpose and made it themselves.

We invited all the families from the Dementia Care unit, provided them with a session on how to de-stress given by hospice and than they received a 15-20 minute massage from a massage training scholl (along with the licensed massage therapist.

It is a free resource in the state of Texas, and as an activity director, you can certifiy individual residents for their own. I keep two in my office that I take to their rooms. I have another gentleman that only speaks Spanish, so I get him spanish speaking books.

2017-04-18 06:33:52 PM susankent I really don't think any social services personnel get involved with activity just like alot of your nursing staff doesn't either. the misconception is that activities is just that, some think it stops at the room that you are having an activity but other staff members can have an activity with residents just by reading them the newspaper or a passage in a book.
2017-04-18 06:33:59 PM lanaf We have our resident council the first Wednesday of every month. I try to have an Ohmbudsman at each council meeting. I think the residents talk more when there's someone from outside the facility listening to their concerns.
