2018-08-29 06:09:49 PM parult yes
2018-08-29 06:09:56 PM jenniferr2018 yes
2018-08-29 06:10:05 PM paulathessen wow

2018-08-29 06:11:31 PM paulathessen Thank you! what iis it suppose to be on
2018-08-29 06:11:55 PM parult we all should send email to Kathy.
2018-08-29 06:12:00 PM norae Adult Day health I believe
2018-08-29 06:12:07 PM parult yes
2018-08-29 06:12:27 PM elaine For those who were on the chat last week I found out from my administrator that she only knows of one small hospital in our area that has swing beds. Do your areas have more facilities using them?
2018-08-29 06:12:34 PM paulathessen would have liked the topic
2018-08-29 06:13:07 PM norae Our main hospital does have some swing beds
2018-08-29 06:13:15 PM norae They're not common
2018-08-29 06:13:25 PM jenniferr2018 I work in a community that has Independent, assisted living and memory care...so I was interested in the topic for tonight
2018-08-29 06:13:27 PM paulathessen maybe in southern Maryland it is very rural
2018-08-29 06:13:29 PM norae Is my nderstanding
2018-08-29 06:13:37 PM norae understanding
2018-08-29 06:13:42 PM jenniferr2018 lol
2018-08-29 06:14:36 PM jenniferr2018 anybody get and email/text back from Kathy yet?
2018-08-29 06:14:45 PM paulathessen how many residents Jennifer?
2018-08-29 06:14:45 PM norae no
2018-08-29 06:15:17 PM jenniferr2018 over 100. my memory care has 25 people
2018-08-29 06:15:34 PM lisabean Like I had mentioned in previous chat I didn;t even heard of them before unteel our reading material and what we talked in chat
2018-08-29 06:15:58 PM elaine How many of you work in facilities that have Adult Day Health?
2018-08-29 06:16:23 PM paulathessen never heard of a swing bed either, no one in my facility had
2018-08-29 06:16:25 PM jenniferr2018 I know what you mean. I have heard the phrase used at some point in time in my career but...at a blank
2018-08-29 06:16:48 PM norae I used to, but in SC you can no longer have ADC in your nursing home because it's considered tunneling Residents into your community to fill your beds
2018-08-29 06:16:52 PM jenniferr2018 Is the adult day health ...like day care
2018-08-29 06:17:15 PM paulathessen What is adlut day health? a type of day care?
2018-08-29 06:17:16 PM norae Yes, but it's for Seniors
2018-08-29 06:17:16 PM parult i work in ADC.
2018-08-29 06:17:27 PM laurajackson No, We dont have day Care.
2018-08-29 06:17:34 PM parult yes, it type of day care only
2018-08-29 06:17:51 PM norae It's for folks that can not stay home by themselves or the family needs a break
2018-08-29 06:17:56 PM parult we have lot of centers in NJ
2018-08-29 06:18:12 PM norae It's different from a Senior Center where they come and go on their own and are independent
2018-08-29 06:18:22 PM jenniferr2018 I use to work in a PACE senior day care. It definitely kept you on your toes for the whole day..doing activities and dining service
2018-08-29 06:18:25 PM parult they are elderly seniors
2018-08-29 06:18:40 PM paulathessen the company who bought us is from NJ they have quite a few
2018-08-29 06:18:56 PM parult yes Jennifer you are correct.
2018-08-29 06:18:57 PM norae Sometimes, but I have seen some young folks in Adult Day Care
2018-08-29 06:19:28 PM jenniferr2018 I like that it bridges the gap and helps many grown kids be able to work and their parent then gets an outing too to the center
2018-08-29 06:20:00 PM parult kids with major disability or mentally retarded
2018-08-29 06:20:11 PM parult are also allowed to join
2018-08-29 06:20:16 PM paulathessen wish I had one when i was taking care of my dad LoL
2018-08-29 06:20:17 PM jenniferr2018 I thought daycare was harder then nursing home beacuse in the nursing home they can go back to their rooms.
2018-08-29 06:20:19 PM laurajackson Anyone celebrating assisted living week?
2018-08-29 06:20:21 PM norae Yes, because with the changes in CMS it is becoming harder for folks to qualify for Medicaide/Medicare
2018-08-29 06:20:37 PM norae Nursing Home to me is way harder
2018-08-29 06:20:42 PM jenniferr2018 Yeppers...what are you doing Laura
2018-08-29 06:21:27 PM lisabean do we still wait?
2018-08-29 06:21:47 PM parult today we arranged movie/cinema show for them.
2018-08-29 06:22:14 PM paulathessen lisa i am about to call it a night after last wednesday no treacher
2018-08-29 06:22:15 PM laurajackson We Are having crazy hat day, sock day, Western day, Hawanii day. I havent got all I want together yet. I better get on it.
2018-08-29 06:22:38 PM paulathessen teacher
2018-08-29 06:22:41 PM elaine What movie?
2018-08-29 06:22:44 PM jenniferr2018 Nursing home yes have its difficulties/challenges it was you would least have a break if the resident wanted to rest or watch TV in their room. In daycare they are in the rooms with programs the entire time they are are the center with you engaging them..unless they are going over to the clinic. I totaly respect both..I've done both too.
2018-08-29 06:23:37 PM jenniferr2018 My folks that I have now are closer to the level of care I had in the nursing homes in many way
2018-08-29 06:24:30 PM laurajackson most of our are also.
2018-08-29 06:24:39 PM laurajackson Ours
2018-08-29 06:25:34 PM paulathessen Goodnight everyone have a great week!!! :)
2018-08-29 06:25:39 PM jenniferr2018 I still have an hour to drive home. It would be nice to get some kind of credit for waiting and trying to keep up the chat. I am going to scoot. I will brig it up at our chat tomorrow with Kathy. Take care...good night

2018-08-29 06:27:42 PM norae Well....
2018-08-29 06:27:50 PM elaine What level of careu and what activities did you do at ADC?
2018-08-29 06:28:32 PM norae I don't do ADC. I worked in a Nursing Home that had an ADC program and I helped out in there. I work in a Memory Care now.
2018-08-29 06:29:05 PM elaine Tell me about the memory care
2018-08-29 06:30:33 PM norae I currently have 25 residents. We are building a new MC and we can hold 44 when it's completed. MC is a "locked" down unit that has alarms on the door and it is for people with advanced dementia or Alzheimer's that are not a good fit for AL
2018-08-29 06:31:48 PM elaine Are norae and Jennifer still on? The info. I read said you had to be on a chat for at least 45 min. to get credit. I'm willing to stay on and complete the chat.
2018-08-29 06:32:32 PM norae I'm here, but I think that's if the instructor is on. I know in Chats with Kathy you have to be on here
2018-08-29 06:32:49 PM norae Are you doing MEPAP 1 or 2
2018-08-29 06:32:58 PM elaine We get a lot of people for a short time at our facility until they can find a place like your unit.
2018-08-29 06:33:27 PM lisabean so you are in rehab?
2018-08-29 06:33:31 PM norae Yea. A lot of times they are moved into AL until MC opens up
2018-08-29 06:33:47 PM lisabean I'm in Rehaband long term
2018-08-29 06:33:52 PM elaine MEPAP 1
2018-08-29 06:34:09 PM lisabean MEPAP1
2018-08-29 06:34:14 PM norae Me too. On week 9
2018-08-29 06:34:25 PM lisabean Week 4 here
2018-08-29 06:34:50 PM elaine Own Pace
2018-08-29 06:35:07 PM lisabean 16 week course
2018-08-29 06:35:46 PM norae Just a piece of advice...work on stuff throughout the week. Don't wait until Monday. There will be weeks where you have a lot to do.
2018-08-29 06:36:03 PM elaine Do you get much activity participation for rehab or just LTC? Our rehab our tired after therapy.
2018-08-29 06:36:53 PM elaine Thanks for the tip.
2018-08-29 06:37:44 PM norae You're welcome.
2018-08-29 06:37:59 PM norae I guess I'm outta here. Good night all.
2018-08-29 06:38:08 PM elaine We leave puzzles, word searches, cards, movies, etc.
2018-08-29 06:38:12 PM norae left the chat room
2018-08-29 06:40:37 PM elaine lisa are you gone?
2018-08-29 06:40:50 PM lisabean stil here
2018-08-29 06:41:32 PM elaine The questions I asked about rehab were for you since norae does memory care.
2018-08-29 06:42:08 PM lisabean we do those too
2018-08-29 06:43:07 PM elaine Do your rehab residents engage in activities much? If so what do you do with them?
2018-08-29 06:43:11 PM lisabean however some rehab people don't like to be around with less keepable cognitively
2018-08-29 06:44:30 PM elaine Do myou have a big enough program to offer 2 activities at once? (higher and lower cognition)
2018-08-29 06:44:34 PM lisabean It probably makes them little uncomfurtable
2018-08-29 06:46:01 PM lisabean I usually modify the activity or be flexible to accomidate who ever is there at a time
2018-08-29 06:46:12 PM elaine We don't have a big enough staff to do separate programs for rehab so we leave the individual items for them to work on by themselves.
2018-08-29 06:46:31 PM lisabean it sometimes depends on who is attending or not
2018-08-29 06:47:02 PM lisabean It is just me right now in my department.
2018-08-29 06:47:27 PM elaine Sometimes we have very sweet higher level people who help the lower cognitive residents.
2018-08-29 06:47:37 PM lisabean We have other activity personal in different areas
2018-08-29 06:48:08 PM lisabean those sweet people are good to have here too
2018-08-29 06:48:51 PM elaine What are the other areas the activity personel do?
2018-08-29 06:48:56 PM lisabean It makes a team work and great satisfuction too
2018-08-29 06:49:14 PM lisabean Memory care, AL
2018-08-29 06:49:51 PM elaine We have 2 van drivers, myself and an assistant on maternity leave.
2018-08-29 06:49:55 PM lisabean And then there is Independent too
2018-08-29 06:50:50 PM elaine Is that in one building or spread out?
2018-08-29 06:51:22 PM lisabean We have over eight buildings
2018-08-29 06:51:39 PM lisabean All on the water front
2018-08-29 06:52:14 PM lisabean how many bbuilding do you have?
2018-08-29 06:52:29 PM elaine So you get to take advantage of the nice weather?
2018-08-29 06:52:45 PM lisabean Sometimes
2018-08-29 06:53:15 PM elaine One building with 176 beds LTC, skilled, Rehab
2018-08-29 06:54:35 PM lisabean I don't even know how many total we have, but in Rehab we have 43 beds
2018-08-29 06:55:41 PM elaine How long do they usually stay on rehab? Most of ours are 2-6 weeks.
2018-08-29 06:56:41 PM lisabean It all depends, well I got to go get my last rite done
2018-08-29 06:57:17 PM elaine Ready to call it a night. Thank you for your input. Have a good week.
2018-08-29 06:58:25 PM lisabean you too
