2017-11-21 07:23:32 PM hthompson I got a part time assistant position and the CEO of the company has instructed the director that we can't do anything that kids would do
2017-11-21 07:23:33 PM amandab so kathy how do you get around corporate regulations about stuff like that
2017-11-21 07:23:34 PM theresas1014 and each resident must have a photo release signed for us to use the photo
2017-11-21 07:23:40 PM tonithomas1 We can't have our phones on the floor at all
2017-11-21 07:23:40 PM dianej Our head administrator is very picky. A family just donated a framed puzzle. It was the last one their loved one did before recently passing and she is not allowing it to be hung.
2017-11-21 07:23:51 PM sdube WE USE COMPANY I PADS TO TAKE PICTURES AND PINT THEM OUT AT CVS
2017-11-21 07:23:54 PM nan1 SO STRICT with pictures at our facility
2017-11-21 07:24:03 PM triciag We have our own camera for pictures!
2017-11-21 07:24:03 PM kathyhughes Remind them that it is the residents home and whatever they want to do they can
2017-11-21 07:24:14 PM brinyanny yes
2017-11-21 07:24:15 PM hthompson good point
2017-11-21 07:24:19 PM ebroughton Yes we do the photo releases to. I'm just trying to find a way to get residents their pictures. They like to send them out especially around the holidays.
2017-11-21 07:24:20 PM kathyhughes I would have the residents sign a release
2017-11-21 07:24:29 PM theresas1014 For us marketing is always on us about decorating, they don't seem to care what the residents want
2017-11-21 07:24:39 PM janagreen12 we do photo relases es too
2017-11-21 07:24:40 PM dianej we have several on a no picture policy. Family does not want them on facebook
2017-11-21 07:24:46 PM kristind We have photo releases signed. And then I take pics with our facility camera or my phone (easier than dang memory cards)
2017-11-21 07:24:47 PM alexandrali So whats everyone doing for new years for their residents?
2017-11-21 07:24:47 PM edgarrod we also use company Ipad for pictures
2017-11-21 07:24:47 PM nikiawyche I recently reminded my Ed of that my coloring group wanted to hang pic up and she didn't want it
2017-11-21 07:24:49 PM amandab that will not fly at our facility it is recently purchased by a very large hospital system and things like that arent allowed
2017-11-21 07:24:57 PM swojcik we do photo releases too.
2017-11-21 07:24:57 PM caroleleb Our director, appreciates having pictures taken, he even get involved either by taking it or being in it....
2017-11-21 07:24:58 PM kathyhughes The perhaps Marketing should present their opinion at REsident Council
2017-11-21 07:25:11 PM nikiawyche We have one picture up and we change it out everytime they complete another one
2017-11-21 07:25:11 PM theresas1014 even with photo release we are not allowed to have pictures on our phone
2017-11-21 07:25:12 PM aylah As long as the residents have a signed release form, my company encourages us to take pictures to post on the employee and coorperate websites
2017-11-21 07:25:16 PM emilyjbquam Our photo release goes over like 10 various options/conditions.....the residnets and families usually laugh when i go over all of them with teh residents on admission hah
2017-11-21 07:25:16 PM swojcik That may be interesting Kathy lol
2017-11-21 07:25:33 PM kristind Our administrator WANTS us to take pictures. I do at least one FB page update a week with pics
2017-11-21 07:25:42 PM kristind but with consent
2017-11-21 07:25:52 PM ebroughton Good points! I may check about getting an Activities Ipad or something for photos. Just try to be so cautious about HIPPA
2017-11-21 07:26:01 PM theresas1014 I agree Kathy, they say only white lights but residents want colored on the tree, marketing does not allow us to hang or put out any residents crafts or projects in public spaces
2017-11-21 07:26:10 PM triciag A little camera wont hurt!
2017-11-21 07:26:10 PM caroleleb we even hang some in the living room and my activity room
2017-11-21 07:26:17 PM sdube OUR CORPORATE WANTS US TO POST PICTURES ON FB 1 TIME A DAY ... I FELL THAT IS WAY TO MUCH
2017-11-21 07:26:20 PM triciag We can't afford iPads. lol
2017-11-21 07:26:21 PM emilyjbquam Look at cameras with Black Friday coming up! We got a great deal a few years ago on a AMAZING camera
2017-11-21 07:26:22 PM amandab theresa us too
2017-11-21 07:26:24 PM brinyanny We will also take pictures with Santa with consent
2017-11-21 07:26:27 PM tonithomas1 I don't know yet if we can do FB with the residents
2017-11-21 07:26:29 PM kathyhughes It just might be but the residents should hear their side of the story and why they will not allow the residents enjoy themselves it might be their last Christmas!
2017-11-21 07:26:34 PM aylah My rule is- the residents come first. If they are happy, everything else will fall into place
2017-11-21 07:26:39 PM cassie10 ive been posting pic and they had to hold off because I send so much in lol
2017-11-21 07:26:40 PM ebroughton Our facilty enjoys the pictures and encourages Activities to take some, we really don't have much enforcements about pictures. But I tried to do all the research I can on it
2017-11-21 07:26:42 PM theresas1014 I agree Kathy!
2017-11-21 07:26:43 PM carrieac17 We get their photo consent when we do their assessments
2017-11-21 07:26:46 PM triciag Yeah, we have this not very expensive camera for a year now and its still great!
2017-11-21 07:26:48 PM amandab outstanding point kathy!!
2017-11-21 07:26:55 PM dianej We have been doing several activities with the local elementary school and its always a challenge to make sure all the kids and residents in the pictures have given their consent
2017-11-21 07:26:56 PM camparan87 sometimes we takes a couple of pictures and put some on the monthly newsletter
2017-11-21 07:26:57 PM joedavis1 we got I pads for new employee orientations it was a nightmare
2017-11-21 07:26:58 PM swojcik No social media by us.. it is in our handbook
2017-11-21 07:27:03 PM kathyhughes So I would ask Resident Council and let them decide
2017-11-21 07:27:04 PM irislamp03 we are trying to start a men's clu at my job called knights at the round table ...i was wondering if anybody has ideals on what activities men really enjoying doing
2017-11-21 07:27:05 PM ebroughton any excuse to do more shopping is fine by me :)
2017-11-21 07:27:06 PM theresas1014 We are encouraged to take pictures but only on faciility camera with consent forms
2017-11-21 07:27:30 PM kathyhughes and record it and have Marketing reply in writing
2017-11-21 07:27:32 PM kathyhughes to them
2017-11-21 07:27:36 PM jcorona93 the only way we take their picture is put into the system for when they come in
2017-11-21 07:27:44 PM ebroughton My men love poker. We have a hard time having enough room at the table
2017-11-21 07:27:54 PM sdube WATCHING SPORTS. PLAYING CARDS. PLAYING POOL. SOME LIKE TO PLAY WII BOWLING
2017-11-21 07:27:56 PM dianej We are only allowed to post anything on our facility's FB page and only two adminstors are allowed to do the posting. We just send them our story and pics and they determine what goes on
2017-11-21 07:28:02 PM kristind Has anyone ever used or heard of TV Ears? We are struggling with residents that don't have hearring aids and want to particpate but cant hear. Or the old school mic/headphone thing? The TV ears are supposed to use WiFi and connect with the TV? My culinary director brought that up today. Never heard of?
2017-11-21 07:28:06 PM swojcik left the chat room
2017-11-21 07:28:15 PM swojcik enter the chat room
2017-11-21 07:28:19 PM theresas1014 Marketing is also requiring us to offer certain activities and celebrate specific holidays, but these activities the residents don't want! Very frustrating, feel like they are telling us how to do our job while they have no activity training
2017-11-21 07:28:21 PM nan1 Us, too jcorona
2017-11-21 07:28:21 PM tonithomas1 left the chat room
2017-11-21 07:28:21 PM tonithomas1 enter the chat room
2017-11-21 07:28:25 PM triciag Well, thqt sounds interesting!
2017-11-21 07:28:27 PM caroleleb i have many photo album of past and present residents, and they love looking at them
2017-11-21 07:28:28 PM aylah we tried all kinds of activiteis with our men: automotive stuff, wood working, gardening...we found that they mostly just enjoy sitting around with the other men eating "manly" snacks like wings and nachos
2017-11-21 07:28:30 PM carrieac17 I have heard of amplifiers
2017-11-21 07:28:33 PM kathyhughes I would do some research on that
2017-11-21 07:28:42 PM emilyjbquam Lots of our residents are getting a kick out of facebook and having thier pictures posted on there. Several of them have grandkids that follow our page and will write little messages to thier grandparents that we show them.
2017-11-21 07:28:44 PM sdube YES ONLY ON OUR FACILITY FB. NOT PERSONAL. AND MARKETING AND ACTIVITIES ARE THE ONES POSTING
2017-11-21 07:28:58 PM emilyjbquam One guy is loving "being famous" beacuse a photo of him had a few likes
2017-11-21 07:29:05 PM janagreen12 my residents love facebook and love when people comment on their pictures
2017-11-21 07:29:13 PM swojcik aylah ...our men residents to..all about eating.
2017-11-21 07:29:16 PM kathyhughes What does the facility do with residents who have their own Facebook page?
2017-11-21 07:29:19 PM jessicarae we arent allowed to do a fb page
2017-11-21 07:29:22 PM nikiawyche that how the resident was that we took to see lady gigi
2017-11-21 07:29:23 PM amandab im right there with you theresa
2017-11-21 07:29:25 PM thad39 I struggle to get my men to participate. They state they just want to do therapy and discharge
2017-11-21 07:29:32 PM jcorona93 oh ok nan1 at least i am not alone on that, I dont feel right taking pictures of the residents on my phone
2017-11-21 07:29:37 PM nikiawyche lady Gaga
2017-11-21 07:29:40 PM caroleleb same here we are not allowed fb
2017-11-21 07:29:47 PM kristind Our men love donuts! :) And I just do ice-breaker question sheets to get them chatting
2017-11-21 07:29:50 PM irislamp03 yeah poker is great ..was thinking about that
2017-11-21 07:29:55 PM kathyhughes Then just document that Thad
2017-11-21 07:29:56 PM ebroughton Good question Kathy. We don't have a policy on that. As far as I know we don't have any residents with FB. At least none that have become an issue
2017-11-21 07:29:58 PM carrieac17 We do not do anything about what the residents do in their rooms or a facebook we have a few that have pages
2017-11-21 07:30:01 PM jessicarae some of my residents have their own FB. Its been an issue with staff friending
2017-11-21 07:30:02 PM thad39 we just did a doughnut social today!!
2017-11-21 07:30:10 PM theresas1014 Residents can have their own facebooks, even though none of them know how to upload photos
2017-11-21 07:30:14 PM irislamp03 lol ebroughton
2017-11-21 07:30:17 PM nan1 I would be FIRED if i took a picture on my phone ha
2017-11-21 07:30:22 PM tonithomas1 I hope our facility will allow us to do FB when I become director. thats amazing
2017-11-21 07:30:22 PM swojcik thad39 yep that is what the men at our facility say too.
2017-11-21 07:30:23 PM thad39 It is in the care plans
2017-11-21 07:30:37 PM kathyhughes Thats good
2017-11-21 07:30:56 PM kathyhughes Some residents perfer to get better and get out!
2017-11-21 07:30:58 PM jcorona93 yep exactly nan1
2017-11-21 07:30:58 PM triciag Our facebook page is handled by our marketing person
2017-11-21 07:31:07 PM thad39 the care plan portion of MEPAP we just did has really helped me
2017-11-21 07:31:12 PM carrieac17 I have rights to our fb page
2017-11-21 07:31:15 PM triciag So we just send her the pictures or email her!
2017-11-21 07:31:25 PM carrieac17 she added me so I can post activties picture
2017-11-21 07:31:27 PM aylah my phone has actually been a great way to connect with my residents. We google all kinds of stuff, take silly pictues (and then delete) and they get a glimpse into my life while watching videos and seeing pics of my kids.
2017-11-21 07:31:28 PM theresas1014 facebook is really a form of marketing, making your facility look attractive and a fun place to be to those who may be looking it up, so photos only help that, but again photo release required
2017-11-21 07:31:29 PM joedavis1 our marketing sends them to corporate only they can post them
2017-11-21 07:31:32 PM hthompson yum
2017-11-21 07:31:50 PM irislamp03 lol aylah
2017-11-21 07:31:51 PM nan1 i thought it was just a "florida" thing jcorona
2017-11-21 07:32:05 PM emilyjbquam One of the joys of a being at a small stand alone facility.....i am the social worker, activity coordinator, marking and IT person lol . Only myself and the administrator have the FB access
2017-11-21 07:32:15 PM joedavis1 My dog Bear got published doing pet therapy!
2017-11-21 07:32:20 PM jcorona93 nope it sure isnt, i work at jewish facility
2017-11-21 07:32:21 PM dianej Most of our pictures tend to be those on rehab who are better and are leaving or outings done by those that live in the townhomes, villas, or residentual apartments. I notice very few are of the healthcare or memory care sides
2017-11-21 07:32:26 PM janagreen12 i started a facebook page to keep in contact with family memebers on monthly activities and special events to get them more involved in their families care
2017-11-21 07:32:26 PM triciag How do you do all of that?!?!!
2017-11-21 07:32:31 PM cassie10 good evening everyone and happy thanksgiving .
2017-11-21 07:32:31 PM camparan87 we dont have fb at our facility
2017-11-21 07:32:33 PM sdube THE INTERNENT IS A BIG PART OF OUR FACILITY. OUR COMPANY PUSHES US TO TEACH THE RESIDENTS ABOUT THE IPAD AND SHOW THEM HOW TO EMAIL. EVERY WEEK WE HAVE TECH CLASSES
2017-11-21 07:32:33 PM theresas1014 Sometimes it would be convenient to have a phone but better to avoid a possible violation
2017-11-21 07:32:38 PM triciag Thats A LOT!
2017-11-21 07:32:45 PM amandab lol we are contracted not to speack to any media outlet and can not even list our job on fb at all
2017-11-21 07:32:49 PM emilyjbquam some days i have no idea how I do it......lots of long days!!!
2017-11-21 07:32:49 PM cassie10 left the chat room
2017-11-21 07:32:52 PM swojcik How often does everyone update and enter a progress note? Or do you update your care plan? Which does state look at more.
2017-11-21 07:33:05 PM kristind Our corporate office is all Jewish so I bought a few jewish decorations and we'll have some education/fun facts too. They are in a different state
2017-11-21 07:33:09 PM emilyjbquam Luckily we are only a 30 bed facility and a 30 unit AL
2017-11-21 07:33:16 PM edgarrod left the chat room
2017-11-21 07:33:22 PM jessicarae swojcik we do ours quartly
2017-11-21 07:33:23 PM triciag Oh thats not bad emily!
2017-11-21 07:33:29 PM aylah I am wondering about progress notes too...
2017-11-21 07:33:31 PM alexandrali For activities ours looks mostly at care plans
2017-11-21 07:33:33 PM thad39 I prog note all my IDT care plan reviews and change in residents condition
2017-11-21 07:33:41 PM kathyhughes The care plans are updated every 90 days and the progress notes are done every 90 days
2017-11-21 07:33:47 PM theresas1014 there are definitely beneifts and disadvantages depending on facility size
2017-11-21 07:33:49 PM hthompson can anyone tell me the average annual salary for someone that is a new activity director
2017-11-21 07:34:02 PM tonithomas1 left the chat room
2017-11-21 07:34:02 PM tonithomas1 enter the chat room
2017-11-21 07:34:06 PM kathyhughes If there is an issue then we would place incidental notes in their charts
2017-11-21 07:34:09 PM amandab we update progress notes as neeed and our cp done on the cp schedule
2017-11-21 07:34:14 PM swojcik ok thanks everyone
2017-11-21 07:34:16 PM janagreen12 our company has a schedule with resdients names that tells me when they are due
2017-11-21 07:34:16 PM aylah so do we write a Progress note every 90 days?
2017-11-21 07:34:28 PM theresas1014 average seems difficult I think it is very regional for salaries
2017-11-21 07:34:29 PM caroleleb i write mine when needed
2017-11-21 07:34:31 PM nan1 We had tv station come in to show what a great job we are doing and all they could film was their HANDS! bunch of hands playing bingo haha
2017-11-21 07:34:32 PM kathyhughes Thats a good question Heather
2017-11-21 07:34:34 PM ren really like the idea of haing a fb but our facility will not allow it.
2017-11-21 07:34:48 PM hthompson or a starting salary range
2017-11-21 07:34:51 PM jcorona93 that is good, not sure if we will be doing any decorating or not for the upcoming holiday but i think if we do some holiday crafts that will be good
2017-11-21 07:34:56 PM emilyjbquam Make sure though that if there are bigger chnages you update the Careplan is it is a "Living Document" so needs to releft the resident's current status....usually this is more important for the nursing dept
2017-11-21 07:34:58 PM kathyhughes You write a progress note every 90 days
2017-11-21 07:35:00 PM tonithomas1 nan1 thats awesome
2017-11-21 07:35:04 PM hthompson for someone that is certified
2017-11-21 07:35:12 PM dianej I have been told several differntent things. One person tells me just to do a note when I do quarterlys, another says to do it often so the state will leave me alone.
2017-11-21 07:35:15 PM carrieac17 we incorporate the star of david in one of our courtyards and it lights up. We even have done a room of jewish decor
2017-11-21 07:35:28 PM jcorona93 I have done careplans and progress notes before
2017-11-21 07:35:30 PM joedavis1 We have a shortage of certified directors here in South Carolina
2017-11-21 07:35:47 PM amandab kathy is there a different form to use to document needed notes other than a progress note?
2017-11-21 07:35:53 PM kathyhughes As for salary it depends on the facility, where is it located, how many residents you have, the cost of living in your area and the reinbursement rate of your facility
2017-11-21 07:35:53 PM dianej I am happy to report that state just left and our activities department did not get one single tag. Seems they were picking on our poor nursing staff this time.
2017-11-21 07:36:03 PM theresas1014 Does anyone have a degree in recreation? do you find this helpful?
2017-11-21 07:36:09 PM emilyjbquam Way to go dianej!
2017-11-21 07:36:13 PM amandab yay diane
2017-11-21 07:36:13 PM kathyhughes I used the progress notes and incidental notes
2017-11-21 07:36:14 PM aylah our program automatically sends a progress note when I do an initial or quarterly...does that count?
2017-11-21 07:36:15 PM hthompson thanks kathy
2017-11-21 07:36:26 PM amandab thanks kathy
2017-11-21 07:36:31 PM emilyjbquam aylah do you have point click care?
2017-11-21 07:36:32 PM joedavis1 In our area Medicaid facilities pay more
2017-11-21 07:36:33 PM kathyhughes you can write in the progress notes in between the 90 days
2017-11-21 07:36:34 PM triciag I am actually about to go to grad school for recreational therapy and iI think it's really helpful
2017-11-21 07:36:40 PM kristind I have PCC
2017-11-21 07:36:52 PM jcorona93 I have PCC
2017-11-21 07:36:55 PM kathyhughes It is your choice to get your recreation degree
2017-11-21 07:36:56 PM thad39 PCC here too
2017-11-21 07:36:56 PM aylah yes, emilyjbquam
2017-11-21 07:37:02 PM alexandrali me too
2017-11-21 07:37:03 PM theresas1014 I am looking to become a recreation therapist, I have been taking classes at the local college
2017-11-21 07:37:04 PM kristind Do you track activity particpation in PCC?
2017-11-21 07:37:18 PM joedavis1 Private pay facilities pay less and hire uncertified unqualfied directors
2017-11-21 07:37:25 PM carrieac17 we are changing to pcc soon
2017-11-21 07:37:28 PM thad39 POC for activites
2017-11-21 07:37:30 PM emilyjbquam There was another facility that I helped out in and the auto populated notes is waht they used as well and didn't have any issues
2017-11-21 07:37:31 PM kristind I enter notes and do MDS etc in it but we just use paper charting, which seems "behind times"
2017-11-21 07:37:40 PM aylah we use pcc and poc
2017-11-21 07:37:43 PM dianej We track activity by doing attendence charts
2017-11-21 07:37:47 PM theresas1014 we use PCC
2017-11-21 07:37:58 PM alexandrali yes under assessments on our pcc
2017-11-21 07:38:01 PM camparan87 we dont have pcc yet
2017-11-21 07:38:08 PM tonithomas1 we still do paper charting

2017-11-21 07:38:25 PM dianej We are trying to transfer from paper attendence to PCC but it is slow going. It takes so long to do it and its just not set up for half of what we do
2017-11-21 07:38:26 PM janagreen12 we do computer
2017-11-21 07:38:29 PM theresas1014 we keep paper and online, easier to have on paper then plug in

2017-11-21 07:38:34 PM jcorona93 not that i know of, yeah we do participation sheets and at the beginning of the month we put in their chart
2017-11-21 07:38:35 PM camparan87 i still chart on paper
2017-11-21 07:38:37 PM kathyhughes the electronic documentation needs to be adapted for each resident
2017-11-21 07:38:38 PM kristind I do too!!! Espscially for care conferences so I have a visual. But corp wants everything in computer
2017-11-21 07:38:44 PM nan1 we are on paper
2017-11-21 07:39:02 PM aylah yes, I wish there was a wat to streamline POC. I have 60 residents and it takes forever
2017-11-21 07:39:05 PM janagreen12 i keep paper forms to as extra info for me
2017-11-21 07:39:10 PM monikadover Hello everyone, I participate in care plan meeting at my facility
2017-11-21 07:39:15 PM kathyhughes Jenny why would you put them in the charts???
2017-11-21 07:39:19 PM thad39 same here janagreen
2017-11-21 07:39:26 PM carrieac17 we do as well we do care plans once a week
2017-11-21 07:39:37 PM kathyhughes WHY???
2017-11-21 07:39:40 PM emilyjbquam The things that we still do on paper, like care conference sign in sheets and such, we are able to scan into our EHR, which is nice beacuse when state comes it is so easy to print it all off if they ask for copies
2017-11-21 07:39:42 PM janagreen12 we also do careplans once a wekk
2017-11-21 07:39:57 PM swojcik Yes i track participation, how often, group or individual, i get quite detailed. I sometimes find assessments, MDS, care plans, progress notes all say the same thing. I wish there could be one area for all activity charting.
2017-11-21 07:40:02 PM monikadover I got 60 residents, too and we do both paper and pc charting
2017-11-21 07:40:06 PM theresas1014 our skilled care does care plans once a week
2017-11-21 07:40:22 PM brinyanny we do paper too
2017-11-21 07:40:39 PM kathyhughes There is NO regulation that states you have to place the attendance sheets in the Medical Chart!!!
2017-11-21 07:40:57 PM jcorona93 that is what they have us do for the residents that are still in the facility, not sure why, i just follow what my boss tells me to do
2017-11-21 07:41:03 PM monikadover We do the activity portion on paper and MDS, communication, and assessments onthe pc
2017-11-21 07:41:06 PM triciag We used to do that but not anymore.
2017-11-21 07:41:08 PM jessicarae we keep attendance seperate from chart
2017-11-21 07:41:12 PM kathyhughes What do you do with residents who only attend once a week>??
2017-11-21 07:41:15 PM carrieac17 We have ecs now to chart participation
2017-11-21 07:41:23 PM kathyhughes I kept mine in my office
2017-11-21 07:41:26 PM nikiawyche I keep my attendance with the calendars
2017-11-21 07:41:27 PM kristind I will write a summary every quarter stating what kind/type of things they attend, if any, but don't put attendance in. It already takes forever on paper.
2017-11-21 07:41:30 PM jessicarae same
2017-11-21 07:41:33 PM triciag Yeah, we have seperate file for their participation attendance!!
2017-11-21 07:41:40 PM janagreen12 same
2017-11-21 07:41:43 PM kathyhughes I did not want the state to see them only if they asked
2017-11-21 07:41:51 PM caroleleb i keep my attendance per month in a file
2017-11-21 07:41:52 PM monikadover I have residents that do not participate at all and that is in the care plan
2017-11-21 07:41:52 PM emilyjbquam I have a file draw in my office with my "soft charts" on hte residents
2017-11-21 07:42:00 PM amandab a to men kathy
2017-11-21 07:42:07 PM joedavis1 ive never been ask for my logs
2017-11-21 07:42:09 PM nikiawyche kathy we think like
2017-11-21 07:42:32 PM kristind When state was at my facility last month, they only asked for all resident council meeting minutes from my dept...nothing else.
2017-11-21 07:42:35 PM amandab joe you better knock on wood
2017-11-21 07:42:36 PM tonithomas1 We have a folder for attendance
2017-11-21 07:43:02 PM joedavis1 i know right lol
2017-11-21 07:43:08 PM aylah when state came to my place they looked hard at resident council and at our CAA documentation
2017-11-21 07:43:15 PM ren for the patients that don't participate, do you do 1:1 with them
2017-11-21 07:43:21 PM swojcik My activity assistants do the attendance on paper. I have them do the initial assessments to get to know the resident and then i do the quarterly, annual and sig changes myself. We use PCC and it still takes a long time.
2017-11-21 07:43:22 PM amandab yes
2017-11-21 07:43:24 PM triciag Yeah, we have a book for it and then after the month is over we put them on their files!
2017-11-21 07:43:25 PM dianej My charts look like a calendar and in each block I have typed in anything special for that day like chapel, piano, nails, parties, etc. then I have individual, group, sensory groups, exercise, puzzles, tasks, and so on. I highlight green if they come and were active, pink if they were passive.
2017-11-21 07:43:27 PM sdube WE KEEP OUR ATTENDANCE IN A SEPERATE BINDER
2017-11-21 07:43:30 PM triciag not on their med chart!
2017-11-21 07:43:30 PM joedavis1 they looked over my assessments and pet records last time no problems
2017-11-21 07:43:31 PM kathyhughes Here's what happens when you keep them in the med charts....there will be residents who prefer to not attend activitie and they will see that and start to ask why
2017-11-21 07:43:31 PM caroleleb yes i do 1 on 1
2017-11-21 07:43:45 PM thad39 last year the state focused on pet records and what to do if you suspect resident abuse
2017-11-21 07:43:46 PM triciag CORRECT!!!
2017-11-21 07:44:05 PM ren monika do you work 1:1 with the ones who don't participate?
2017-11-21 07:44:09 PM triciag We also have a seperate book/binder for 1:1's!
2017-11-21 07:44:10 PM tonithomas1 we do 1:1
2017-11-21 07:44:15 PM swojcik Yes only give state what they ask for. Never anymore... unless they ask.
2017-11-21 07:44:18 PM thad39 we do 1:1
2017-11-21 07:44:22 PM camparan87 report it right away
2017-11-21 07:44:25 PM emilyjbquam I was hoping that we would have survey before the 28th when all of the new regulations and the new survey format becomes effective....but sadly no luck :(
2017-11-21 07:44:28 PM carrieac17 Anyone know how many 1-1 we are required to see in a week? My director has always said atleast 3x a week a resident must be seen
2017-11-21 07:44:28 PM nikiawyche Resdients who don't particapate I do 1:1 visit and I have a file on things that they like we visit them often so much one resident said if I come to activities will my visit be less lol
2017-11-21 07:44:30 PM kathyhughes Right
2017-11-21 07:44:31 PM tonithomas1 triciag great idea
2017-11-21 07:44:32 PM triciag Yeah, we usually do them with res. who dont like to go outside of their room!
2017-11-21 07:44:37 PM jcorona93 oh ok not sure why, I guess i will have to ask why we do that then
2017-11-21 07:44:41 PM swojcik I have my volunteers do most of our 1:1's
2017-11-21 07:44:45 PM caroleleb left the chat room
2017-11-21 07:44:53 PM kathyhughes I would just remove them to your office
2017-11-21 07:45:05 PM lauramc left the chat room
2017-11-21 07:45:12 PM kathyhughes It is easier to apologize than ask for permission
2017-11-21 07:45:19 PM aylah truth
2017-11-21 07:45:21 PM nikiawyche yes
2017-11-21 07:45:21 PM janagreen12 amen!!
2017-11-21 07:45:24 PM camparan87 yes
2017-11-21 07:45:25 PM kathyhughes Blame me
2017-11-21 07:45:30 PM aylah lol!!
2017-11-21 07:45:30 PM amandab voulenteers are not allowed to do 1:1 with our resident they cant be alone with any of them
2017-11-21 07:45:30 PM emilyjbquam lol
2017-11-21 07:45:33 PM ren most of my work in swingbed will be 1;1, I was just looking for ideas
2017-11-21 07:45:35 PM jessicarae lol
2017-11-21 07:45:37 PM tonithomas1 Our volunteers do most of our 1:1 too
2017-11-21 07:45:39 PM kathyhughes I am used to it
2017-11-21 07:45:44 PM kristind Even if they do background check and orientation??
2017-11-21 07:45:52 PM kristind That seems silly
2017-11-21 07:46:05 PM jcorona93 oh ok thanks kathy!
2017-11-21 07:46:14 PM carrieac17 My boss would rather our volunteers do an activity with them then we can go see 1-1
2017-11-21 07:46:15 PM tonithomas1 our volunteers have background checks and we train them
2017-11-21 07:46:17 PM swojcik I only do 1:1's for residents who can't come out of their room for some reason. If it is their choice to stay in their room i chart that it is their choice and iactivites will encourage and monitor.
2017-11-21 07:46:18 PM dianej I'll never forget this past April. We had a complaint and I was called in and asked why I wasn't getting this lady outside. Its like, "well, I didn't start here till the end of Feb. and its only the 1st of april. The weather has not permitted it. And she looked at me and said the state does not care about when I started. I so wanted to ask if I was suppose to bundle her up in a snowsuit
2017-11-21 07:46:24 PM joedavis1 i feel sorry for our nursing department they take most of the beating when state comes in
2017-11-21 07:46:30 PM amandab yes i know i thought so too but thats coorporate logic
2017-11-21 07:46:47 PM carrieac17 Kathy is there an amount we are to see people per week or month???
