2016-06-28 06:14:27 PM salinass It was not a water balloon fight, it was a sensory actvitiy, we froze the balloons, then put them in water, the residents would feel the balloons in a small basin with water in it. We did it on our patio and we had some with water, they tossed the balloons at us or on the floor. it was fun.

2016-06-28 06:14:58 PM beccalr Not many cnas but some help.
2016-06-28 06:14:58 PM scomeau i swear its like pulling teeth
2016-06-28 06:14:59 PM djc6540 My facility really wants marketing events right now so I'm going to get creative!
2016-06-28 06:15:01 PM sashavowell only 1 of the cna helps when she can
2016-06-28 06:15:05 PM suelinton Yes I have a couple of CNA's that love to help me with crafts!
2016-06-28 06:15:06 PM brandiedwards our attendants will call bingo if I'm not there. That's it.
2016-06-28 06:15:07 PM reneegu our CNA's will help with the bigger events but not the every day ones

2016-06-28 06:15:10 PM angiepenn7 CNA's try to help with 1:1 & nails, but not groups really.
2016-06-28 06:15:12 PM jflores 060716 so true
2016-06-28 06:15:13 PM sfuentes yes in our facility we have some CNA work closed with activity department

2016-06-28 06:15:17 PM jmorris84 no help from CNA's but our company has a policy that staff is to run 2 programs a day which would help tremendously BUT THEY DON'T
2016-06-28 06:15:20 PM kimberly5 passing out cupcakes or sweet treats to the staff will help boost morale and increase overall productivity
2016-06-28 06:15:24 PM 10924 If I ask, my CNAs help
2016-06-28 06:15:25 PM tendaimcclain jmorris84 - do you have a real chef? are food is not the greatest. residents dont like it
2016-06-28 06:15:28 PM scomeau hahaha right danielleknodzich
2016-06-28 06:15:29 PM dianajohnson i ove the spring cleaning idea sounds good
2016-06-28 06:15:29 PM teaves mines are usually busy but the restorative dept helps out a lot
2016-06-28 06:15:33 PM valerieg is there a regulation that indicates how long room visits and 1-1 activities should be? My AD has me spending only about 5-10 minutes per resident on room visits...
2016-06-28 06:15:34 PM sharonrwaltz we have a "safety aide" that helps on the locked unit, but their help is limited. As for the other skilled nursing and personal care nurses...no help.
2016-06-28 06:15:35 PM djc6540 Angie I have the same issue...I'm happy when they do nails though!
2016-06-28 06:15:41 PM sggarcia my budget is very small so there is not much i can do, most of the stuff i buy out of my own pocket or the administrator will give me money out of her own pocket.
2016-06-28 06:15:45 PM scomeau they will participate in food events if they can get some haha
2016-06-28 06:15:45 PM pbaines2 Yes. My facility requires each CNA to complete a 30 minutes segment with the residents daily.
2016-06-28 06:15:47 PM teaves oh lets not talk about nails
2016-06-28 06:15:52 PM salinass scomeau our cnas are requried to help lead activities on our memory care unit, they all get trained to do activities in our facililty, especailly on our memory care unit.
2016-06-28 06:15:52 PM jflores our restorative help us when they can, they are great
2016-06-28 06:15:53 PM teaves now thatsl ike pulling teeth
2016-06-28 06:15:54 PM kimberly5 Room visits should be at least 10 mins?
2016-06-28 06:15:56 PM sashavowell my budget is 80 bucks a month
2016-06-28 06:15:58 PM sfuentes but the perfect time from CNA's to help in during state survey
2016-06-28 06:15:58 PM tonih you gotto have a good relationship with other staff! It starts with us!
2016-06-28 06:16:01 PM cmarion I just make sure when we make something I include the staff
2016-06-28 06:16:02 PM scomeau salinass that is awesome
2016-06-28 06:16:05 PM angiepenn7 I joke that I will bribe them. Even for nails I'll give them soda and candy from the store.
2016-06-28 06:16:10 PM sashavowell room visits are 15 minutes
2016-06-28 06:16:18 PM suelinton Room visits should be I think at least 10 min!
2016-06-28 06:16:19 PM kimberly5 15 great
2016-06-28 06:16:21 PM jmorris84 She is a chef but not a REAL chef she is awesome and loves to bake, all our residents love the food sometimes their only compliant is tyhat its cold but its really not
2016-06-28 06:16:22 PM salinass yes, it is very nice to have them help us.
2016-06-28 06:16:23 PM scomeau our CNAs see my department and then leave cause we are there to relieve them
2016-06-28 06:16:25 PM edknowles not my staff (stna) they feel like that what they should be getting any way
2016-06-28 06:16:32 PM dianed72 The ladies love when I do their nails. I make little designs on them.
2016-06-28 06:16:34 PM daniellekondzich 10 min are required where im at but no one does it
2016-06-28 06:16:38 PM jflores lucky lady salinass
2016-06-28 06:16:39 PM salinass that is how it was, but not no more
2016-06-28 06:16:42 PM lladio the CNA's are doing better, we had a in- service with staff
2016-06-28 06:16:49 PM sharonrwaltz room visits are "as tolerated," so sometimes I spend a lot longer than 5-10 mins. Just depends on the resident and if they even want to visit.
2016-06-28 06:16:49 PM kathyhughes Valerie, there is no regulation that states how long a 1-1 activity should be...look at the FTag248 and it will state that the 1-1 activity depends on the resident
2016-06-28 06:16:53 PM suelinton Room visits are so important though!
2016-06-28 06:16:54 PM djc6540 Does anyone else have certain logs where they track what is done and discussed in room visits?
2016-06-28 06:16:55 PM daniellekondzich i cant wait to finish the practicum assignment with having a activity staff meeting.
2016-06-28 06:16:56 PM 10924 Most of my ladies try to tip me after I do their nails haha
2016-06-28 06:16:59 PM sfuentes most of them they think like that, the we are the relief
2016-06-28 06:16:59 PM dianed72 I worked in a nails salon in high school. larned a thing or two. lol
2016-06-28 06:17:01 PM sggarcia i have a hard time getting staff to participate they tell me they are very busy

2016-06-28 06:17:56 PM salinass We have parallel programing
2016-06-28 06:18:02 PM angiepenn7 Care Plan the lengths of the 1:1's according to what the resident can handle. Be detailed with the progress note. Some of mine can only handle a few minutes at a time. I document it thoroughly and STATE is okay with it.
2016-06-28 06:18:02 PM dianed72 We have our restorative team help with some of our activities but the CNAs won't.
2016-06-28 06:18:09 PM scomeau parallel prgoramming?
2016-06-28 06:18:09 PM daniellekondzich i wish there was more time/hours to get stuff ;done because our activities run from 9:30 and the last one is at 3:15. i want to do so much but the PPD isnt enough
2016-06-28 06:18:12 PM djc6540 CNA week was fun! The residents got really involved!

2016-06-28 06:18:30 PM angiepenn7 You don't have to detail the length itself in the care plan, just that they prefer short times
2016-06-28 06:18:30 PM kathyhughes Scratch off lottery tickets
2016-06-28 06:18:33 PM daniellekondzich we start our 50/50 July 8th

2016-06-28 06:19:42 PM suelinton 7 floors How do they doit?
2016-06-28 06:19:49 PM edithl yes i believe we are to show them love, but i had a very bad week during CNA week , i did a bunch of thinks to thank them , even though most of them don't deserve it, and on top of it they treated me bad(not all,of course) and made fun , because my AD never does anything for them , so she was out I figured I would show them appreciation, I guess they don't care , but oh welli did it with the right motive and its on them not me
2016-06-28 06:19:50 PM aguison can get the goodies in cash and carry or 99 cent store or dollar store.
