2017-08-22 05:20:02 PM lynmyhre I've got a question...how do ya'll handle residents who complain a lot, and often about things that are not a real issue (not those with dimentia or cognitive decline of any kind, but those who are alert and oriented)? I pass a lot of things onto other sections (housekeeping, kitchen, etc.) but wish I could do more. I try to approach these folks with ideas on how to cope when they feel slighted and to reassure them that any tangible problems will be fixed...it is the intangible issues that are challenging to address.

I came into a place where there were 3...no kidding...3 different tracking systems in place for updating/staying current with notes. ANd different staff kept different logs on getting initial assessments done...and MDS done.

I am continuing to ask her for input. She was there for a few weeks when I started and has been on leave for two weeks. She comes back tomorrows. She is very talented and I do value her input.

I use a one on one from and lots of notes as I can. Try to always be aware if family or hospice visits but its easy to miss something.

2017-08-22 06:02:54 PM dianej Had a hard day last week. Had planned a big event for this one gentlemen who loves football especially our Colts team. Got permission for everyone on my floor to wear blue jeans and colts shirts plus we were all going to bring something to share for tailgating. Talked about it all week but when the day came no one did anything. They acted like jerks. Then to top it all off, I had to report a CNA for being abusive to a resident. That always adds tension to the unit but I know I did the right thing.
