2017-12-05 07:27:26 PM ebroughton Ask for help IV! I am such hands on person (soome would say micromanager!) that it was hard for me at first. Now if my staff want to do a certain activity for the residents they pitch it to me and then they are in charge of it.
2017-12-05 07:27:33 PM ashia who do u guys use to enlarge your calendar to post in hallway
2017-12-05 07:27:36 PM davidberumen activities aren't good if they are frantically strung together. it has to be well thought out in order to engage your residents
2017-12-05 07:27:38 PM judithdevin then they frost and place graham crackers onthe carton then decorate less worry of it falling apart
2017-12-05 07:27:44 PM kyoung We are decorating xmas ornaments next week that the residents can hang on the tree in the living room

2017-12-05 07:28:36 PM davidberumen like one of our first readings said, and I love it, very few of the seniors in this particular study said they simply do activities to pass the time.
2017-12-05 07:28:49 PM judithdevin i find anything that has to dow ith foor my residents love
2017-12-05 07:28:49 PM ivarhc4 i think im more worried about staff. my residents are pleased with what goes on during activities and throughout each month since ive been there. ive got compliments.. but the other staff is so opinionated. drives me crazy

A lot of my residents are on behavior units and per their behavioral plan have to behave appropriately to participate. I feel that this gives them something to look forwards too and work towards.

2017-12-05 07:30:33 PM davidberumen If your staff have good ideas then absolutely try to incorprate them! You need to work as a team. But their ideas should be for the benefit of the community, not their ego. Make sure that your team's ideas are adapted to the residents you have in your community
2017-12-05 07:30:34 PM dianej We do a calendar in each floor plus one in the dining room. I also have a board that I write the day's date and main event. Since I am over the advanced memory care unit, they mostly depend on me inviting them.

We just had a beloved long time resident pass away last month and we have discussed putting in place some type of memorial or service area? I was thinking a table with a LED candle with memory quote, an inspirational sign...and maybe somthing else? I am in AZ so putting something outside is a possibility
2017-12-05 07:39:19 PM carrieac17 I know Brookdale in Canton Ohio doesnt have asst either its just her and her department managers help her on the weekends and they alternate

2017-12-05 07:41:16 PM katieposey I did not recieve a grade for that paper as well me1090517
2017-12-05 07:41:17 PM carrieac17 And other than the final do we need a certification test if we are going on to MEPAP2
2017-12-05 07:41:31 PM ebroughton I really try to avoid volunteers for that reason. I can't rely on them and it is unfair to the residents. I do have some volunteers that do a monthly technology class, or Bible study. They have seemed to work out well.
2017-12-05 07:41:33 PM rachelmaine you guys plan staff christmas party same day as resident party? I ask because some of the staff was up set when I decided to keep them separate?
2017-12-05 07:41:39 PM dianej right now we have 4 activity directors over healthcare and AL. Two more over residental. Plus we have a supervisor but they gave her another job as well so we seldom see her. She has been training me to take over if I ever get this course done! LOL
2017-12-05 07:41:41 PM kathyhughes And you have to let me know that so I can check
2017-12-05 07:41:46 PM kamyron12 do we have to go on to meapap2/

2017-12-05 07:41:53 PM kathyhughes No Carrie
2017-12-05 07:42:04 PM davidberumen I LOST MY DIRECTOR!!!!!

2017-12-05 07:42:35 PM matthewc grrr i missed the live chat :(
2017-12-05 07:42:38 PM davidberumen it is absolutely depressing me. I am struggling through this week
2017-12-05 07:42:40 PM ren carrieac17 I see ya
2017-12-05 07:42:41 PM swojcik When someone passes away at our facility we make an anouncement that is very touching. Our residnet comes in the front door and leaves through the front door. After the anouncement, all staff drop what they are doing (if they can) an following the procession from the resident room to the front door. Everyone stands at the front door until the vehicle leaves the grounds.
2017-12-05 07:42:42 PM kat86 currently a one person department for the most part. Co-worker has been off on medical for 3 months!
2017-12-05 07:42:46 PM dianej Does anyone else have trouble finding subs for when you are off? We do good during summer months when college students are available but during winter months its so hard
