2019-09-17 06:02:58 PM kathyhughes How do they dress up as?
2019-09-17 06:03:10 PM michelled Both staff and residents dress up. We have staff bring in their children and the residents hand out candy.
2019-09-17 06:03:22 PM emilynb1 This will be my first halloween at YCC but from what i am told, residents dress up for their halloween social. A local day care comes in to visit in their costumes and do an intergenterational activity with the residents. And the week before halloween the community trick-or-treats at the facility
2019-09-17 06:03:42 PM aehutchins Yes, I wasn't at my community last year but the residents had a blast shopping for decorations and dressing up. They even had a contest.
2019-09-17 06:03:53 PM tammiehall25 family members and employees bring in their children to trick or treat
2019-09-17 06:04:00 PM aida1 We're having a halloween party for the residents and the staff are dressing up in costumes
2019-09-17 06:04:02 PM michelled Last year I was Bob Ross and my one assistant was the painting, and the other one was a scarecrow.
2019-09-17 06:04:29 PM michelled My third assitant wouldnt participate.
2019-09-17 06:04:35 PM emilynb1 michelle i love that hahaha did you dress as bob ross by "happy accident"
2019-09-17 06:04:38 PM jjmiller227 This is my first Halloween there, AL may dress up but not in the memory care. We have a girls school next door which will come in to trick or treat.
2019-09-17 06:04:38 PM tammiehall25 It will be my first halloween but I have seen pictures and some have full on costumes and others just a mask, hat or simple prop
2019-09-17 06:04:44 PM buddyrmorvent employees dress up. invite community to trick or treat door to door at our facility.
2019-09-17 06:04:46 PM lhalfacre Last year the staff dressed up and the residents voted on the costumes. We also had a party for the staffs children, we had a entertainer, halloween bags made up and food for everyone.
2019-09-17 06:05:04 PM tharwat just the staff dress up and we having party
2019-09-17 06:05:13 PM aehutchins The staff dressed up too. I have seen pictures of mardi gra themed, I saw a set from Wizard of Oz

2019-09-17 06:06:22 PM lhalfacre last year I dressed as Whinny the Pooh. I won won ( I can not believe you wore that prize)
2019-09-17 06:06:27 PM darkeisha hello everyone
2019-09-17 06:06:31 PM sonyamsullivan enter the chat room
2019-09-17 06:06:38 PM kathyhughes Do your residents help decorate?
2019-09-17 06:06:52 PM aehutchins This year I hope to have a fall festival type setting with carnival games including prizes made by a couple of our crafty ladies and candied apple making
2019-09-17 06:07:00 PM aida1 we don't have themes for the staff
2019-09-17 06:07:10 PM regina1 At my previous job we had a ice cream social on memory care last year on memory care and painted masks, families brought cup cakes! Courious how we wi do things this year at the new job!
2019-09-17 06:07:11 PM michelled Some of ours love to help as much as possible.
2019-09-17 06:07:15 PM emilynb1 we have a team of people that volunteer and decorate, the residents dont part-take in that
2019-09-17 06:07:26 PM aida1 In my facility the residents are helping craft decorations
2019-09-17 06:07:29 PM jjmiller227 We will have residents help decorate as the are able.
2019-09-17 06:07:33 PM lhalfacre I have had residents help decorate, and for crafts I have had residents make things to decorate with.
2019-09-17 06:07:53 PM michelled We try to do a theme for our department to dress up.
2019-09-17 06:08:00 PM buddyrmorvent No to low functioning right now.
2019-09-17 06:08:15 PM aehutchins My plan is to have them help make as many decorations as possible this year and be involved with shopping for the ones we dont make.
2019-09-17 06:08:21 PM kathyhughes The residents would make all of the decorations and then they would invite their families to see what they made
2019-09-17 06:08:48 PM tammiehall25 I don't think the residents decorate
2019-09-17 06:09:12 PM michelled That sound like a good idea but not many families are involved
2019-09-17 06:09:13 PM lhalfacre This year we are getting a pumpkin for every resident to paint.
2019-09-17 06:09:25 PM kathyhughes Our favorite was printing the tablecloths with bats and pumpkins carved out of potatoes
2019-09-17 06:09:26 PM tharwat we will have residents help decorate
2019-09-17 06:09:46 PM aehutchins We have quite a few high functioning residents that enjoy crafts and getting to go out and be involved in shopping for decorations
2019-09-17 06:09:51 PM emilynb1 we will be doing pumpkin painting also
2019-09-17 06:10:10 PM amberreed enter the chat room
2019-09-17 06:10:47 PM lhalfacre I have plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas already. I always ask the residents what they would like to make for every holiday.
2019-09-17 06:10:54 PM tammiehall25 We don't have a lot of residents that are able to craft.....
2019-09-17 06:11:22 PM aehutchins I have started to purchase some fall craft items we will be using to decorate the residents rooms with and they are already enjoying looking through the ups boxes when they arrive :)
2019-09-17 06:11:26 PM kathyhughes All of the residents could stamp, even the lower functioning folks
2019-09-17 06:11:36 PM kathyhughes We have to look at what they can do....
2019-09-17 06:11:38 PM darkeisha we are cutting out leaves and pumpkin drawings and painting them and putting them on the walls around the facility
2019-09-17 06:11:44 PM amberreed Today we used air dry clay and residents made small pinch pots that they will paint next week
2019-09-17 06:12:01 PM jjmiller227 The tablesloths is a great idea. Due to the memory care population we might not decorate that much on that floor. However I do plan to have them making Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations
2019-09-17 06:12:02 PM kathyhughes We also did a Trunk or Treat in our parking lot
2019-09-17 06:12:06 PM aehutchins Stamping is a great idea! Holiday cards to the family
2019-09-17 06:12:19 PM michelled never did stamping
2019-09-17 06:12:54 PM jjmiller227 We are going to make holiday cards to send to families also.
2019-09-17 06:13:00 PM aida1 There will be few family visits so we are planning the party based on what most residents would like
2019-09-17 06:13:08 PM lhalfacre I have to say Easter was wonderful when I bought 12 dozen of paintable eggs and bought some paint. Each resident got a pair of gloves and poured paint in the palm of their hands. They rolled the egg around and I have to say the Eggs came out beautiful.
2019-09-17 06:13:34 PM michelled I have had some say that they dont want a "halloween" party they are asking for a fall festival.
2019-09-17 06:13:55 PM kathyhughes That is fine Michelle what are you planning for it?
2019-09-17 06:14:02 PM tammiehall25 I'm going to suggest the stamping - I loke the idea. It seems as though we're stuck in "what we've always done" and I'm new.....so.....
2019-09-17 06:14:02 PM regina1 I like the stampling idea
2019-09-17 06:14:13 PM kathyhughes And how are the residents involved in the planning
2019-09-17 06:14:24 PM aehutchins The residents in my community are really looking foward to the changing weather and the holiday season. We talk about how close we are to christmas every day
2019-09-17 06:14:35 PM merrellsherry enter the chat room
2019-09-17 06:14:40 PM sonyamsullivan We have a tropical storm approaching Houston. My computer is running slow and freezing up. I'm not sure if that's the reason.
2019-09-17 06:14:44 PM kathyhughes We had a stamping cart that went around once a week on each floor so residents could make their own cards
2019-09-17 06:15:06 PM michelled I'm not sure just yet. I would love to have it outside and decorate with mums and pumpkins.
2019-09-17 06:15:27 PM deniseweiss We are getting ready for our Halloween party, but before that we are having an Oktoberfest for the first time!
2019-09-17 06:15:28 PM aehutchins I have a "crafting queen" in my community that loves to pick out crafts from the order book to order and looks foward to the day the boxes come in
2019-09-17 06:15:29 PM aida1 they're giving me ideas on how they want their decorations and which types of crafts they prefer
2019-09-17 06:15:43 PM kathyhughes We gave out prizes to the community for the Trunk or Treat....
2019-09-17 06:16:02 PM tharwat good idea
2019-09-17 06:16:07 PM kathyhughes What are you doing for the Octoberfest???
2019-09-17 06:16:15 PM aehutchins What types of prizes
2019-09-17 06:16:26 PM sonyamsullivan I think costumes would be fun.
2019-09-17 06:16:27 PM lhalfacre We have many trees around the facility. I would love to take high functioning residents outside and stuff halloween lawn bags.
2019-09-17 06:16:35 PM amberreed maybe trophies for different catagories of decorated trunks
2019-09-17 06:17:05 PM amberreed residents can help make them dollar tree has fun things to use like skulls and bird skeletons
2019-09-17 06:17:09 PM aehutchins I am working on a food tasting event for octoberfest
2019-09-17 06:17:10 PM kathyhughes We made car trophies from hot wheels on a palstic trophy from the Dollar Tree...we spray painted then all gold and then had the catagories on them
2019-09-17 06:17:15 PM michelled For happy hour on Friday they are having soft pretzels and n/a beer
2019-09-17 06:17:41 PM buddyrmorvent I had a resident want to run football squares for prizes. What are some good prizes? On a budget.
2019-09-17 06:18:25 PM merrellsherry love the trophy idea
2019-09-17 06:18:26 PM emilynb1 dollar store prizes is what we usually use for things or donated stuff
2019-09-17 06:18:30 PM sonyamsullivan I like the idea of decorating a table cloth for lower functioning residents.
2019-09-17 06:18:36 PM kathyhughes You can find small footballs at the Dollar Tree and use them for prizes along with snacks and beer
2019-09-17 06:19:11 PM aehutchins My residents love the snacks! Stuff they don't normally get
2019-09-17 06:19:19 PM buddyrmorvent ty

2019-09-17 06:20:30 PM kathyhughes Beef stick...small and tasty
2019-09-17 06:20:33 PM regina1 I agree with the oreos too Aehutchins
2019-09-17 06:20:34 PM buddyrmorvent Slim Jims are dehydrated sausage stick.
2019-09-17 06:20:39 PM kathyhughes and beef jerky will do
2019-09-17 06:20:40 PM lhalfacre Monday we had a Football Watch Party. It went over so well we are planning one every week The Browns are playing.
2019-09-17 06:20:40 PM sonyamsullivan I also like the idea of letting children dressed in costumes come in to treak or treat.
2019-09-17 06:21:11 PM amberreed we do that and residents line the halls and pass candy
2019-09-17 06:21:30 PM kathyhughes We had a tailgate party every single Sunday for Football, Baseball, Basketball and Nascar
2019-09-17 06:22:00 PM emilynb1 we are going to start a "men's hockey night" at my facility
2019-09-17 06:22:01 PM jjmiller227 Our residents are going to line the hallways between the 3 buildings and pass out candy, it will be great!
2019-09-17 06:22:15 PM kathyhughes We also had a Halloween pet parade with staff's animals dressed up and they got gift certificates for prizes
2019-09-17 06:22:20 PM aehutchins Pet therapy dogs in costumes!
2019-09-17 06:22:22 PM lhalfacre Monday was our first watch party and the residents really enjoyed it. We had nacho, salsa, chips, and dip
2019-09-17 06:22:43 PM jjmiller227 Pet parade is a great idea, what fun!
2019-09-17 06:22:57 PM michelled I like the idea of the pet parade
2019-09-17 06:23:07 PM emilynb1 loooooove the pet parade idea!
2019-09-17 06:23:10 PM aida1 pet parade for halloween is a great idea
2019-09-17 06:23:15 PM amberreed every friday we do football night everyone who attends gets a list of the weekend games for NFL they circle who they think will win and whoever uesses one correct on monday we give them a point at the end of football season we have a party and have 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners
2019-09-17 06:23:16 PM tammiehall25 pets AND kids....
2019-09-17 06:23:17 PM lhalfacre Pet Parade would be awesome
2019-09-17 06:23:21 PM aehutchins Pet Parade going on my list
2019-09-17 06:23:32 PM tharwat yes ti is
2019-09-17 06:23:36 PM aida1 my residentes love animals
2019-09-17 06:24:38 PM darkeisha left the chat room
2019-09-17 06:24:51 PM amberreed since football is more for the men we are doing tea club with the ladies we have tea and goodies and just chit chat
2019-09-17 06:24:55 PM deniseweiss For our Oktoberfest, we are making alpine hats, hiring a wonderful entertainer who plays the accordion, and teaching the residents some German songs to sing.
2019-09-17 06:25:02 PM kathyhughes It was always a hit and the staff loved the prizes
2019-09-17 06:25:12 PM regina1 We have a lot of pets at at our facilty and they're great to have around, great for the seniors and staff!
2019-09-17 06:25:24 PM kathyhughes Beer tasting Denise???
2019-09-17 06:25:52 PM lhalfacre We are having a few schools bring in kids to read to our residents. This is a big hit during the winter months.
2019-09-17 06:26:09 PM aehutchins I thought about a beer tasting but I don't know...
2019-09-17 06:26:16 PM jjmiller227 We had a men's club last month and did a beer tasting. They enjoyed it.
2019-09-17 06:26:35 PM kathyhughes Rememer it is a tasting...so they get about a med cup full of beer to taste
2019-09-17 06:26:46 PM lhalfacre We are doing a Si and Paint event at the end of the month.
2019-09-17 06:26:49 PM merrellsherry I would love to do a beer tasting for men's group
2019-09-17 06:27:07 PM sonyamsullivan Therapy dogs in costume! Great idea!
2019-09-17 06:27:14 PM tammiehall25 si and paint?
2019-09-17 06:27:24 PM amberreed she meant sip and paint
2019-09-17 06:27:26 PM emilynb1 sip and paint
2019-09-17 06:27:29 PM lhalfacre Sorry typo...............Sip and Paint
2019-09-17 06:27:29 PM deniseweiss Yes, definitelu! We actually just started happy hour at my SNF and we have that every Friday afternoon. We worked with our wonderful speech therapist and dietary director to acquire an innovative new gel thickener for all of our beverages. Works so much better than powder!
2019-09-17 06:27:31 PM tammiehall25 ok
2019-09-17 06:27:35 PM aehutchins We have a couple of local brewerys in conroe, tx maybe ill see if I can get someone to volunteer. try it out
2019-09-17 06:27:39 PM tharwat ok
2019-09-17 06:27:43 PM kathyhughes Well I guess we are done with Halloween!
2019-09-17 06:27:50 PM kathyhughes I have another question
2019-09-17 06:28:29 PM tharwat go a head
2019-09-17 06:28:44 PM kathyhughes If you invite staff and volunteers to help you take your residents out to eat...does your faility pay for the staff and volunteer lunches? And when do you let them know?
2019-09-17 06:29:12 PM tammiehall25 I don't know....
2019-09-17 06:29:20 PM merrellsherry no they do not
2019-09-17 06:29:20 PM michelled Sadly our residnets don't leave the facility and we don't have any volunteers
2019-09-17 06:29:21 PM emilynb1 yes our facility pays for the volunteer and staff meal
2019-09-17 06:29:31 PM amberreed yes we pay for them and as we are ordering we say please make it one bill. and let them know it is our way of saying thank you for your help
2019-09-17 06:29:32 PM tharwat good question
2019-09-17 06:29:34 PM jjmiller227 We go out for lunch once a month. We cover the staff - STNA, driver and activities who attend. Residents love the outings
2019-09-17 06:29:37 PM aida1 my facility pay for it
2019-09-17 06:29:40 PM tammiehall25 I have yet to go on an outing
2019-09-17 06:29:45 PM adriannamarshall left the chat room
2019-09-17 06:29:45 PM emilynb1 we let them know at orientation
2019-09-17 06:29:52 PM buddyrmorvent Yes facility pays. i let the know there meal will be on my ticket at the table once we are seated.
2019-09-17 06:29:52 PM regina1 ours pays
2019-09-17 06:29:53 PM lhalfacre We took residents to Red Lobster, Everyone had to sign up and had to pay for their own meals.
2019-09-17 06:30:03 PM kathyhughes Michelle I knew that...can we consider if you could take your residents to a restaurant??
2019-09-17 06:30:21 PM aehutchins I'm not sure and thats an awesome question. If it was up to me I would say, yes the facility needs to pay for volunteers and staffs meals just as it would for the residents
2019-09-17 06:30:30 PM emilynb1 residents pay for their own but the staff acquire the money from our finanicial adviso
2019-09-17 06:30:46 PM sonyamsullivan I'm a volunteer at an assisted living facility, but I don't know the answer to that question.
2019-09-17 06:31:08 PM tharwat our residents don't leave the facility .
2019-09-17 06:31:12 PM aehutchins We have taken residents out to eat before I started to work there so I will ask tomorrow how that works
2019-09-17 06:31:18 PM merrellsherry facility only allows staff to attend outings and they only pay for the staff members transportation fee
2019-09-17 06:31:20 PM michelled I would feel the facilty should pay
2019-09-17 06:31:24 PM kathyhughes So this was posted last night on facebook and the AD was taking everyone out the next day...now if I had volunteered and found out that I needed to pay for my meal as I got on the bus I would not be happy
2019-09-17 06:32:06 PM kathyhughes We gave each volunteer $20 each and the staff got the same..so if my bill was over $20 that would be my problem
2019-09-17 06:32:09 PM michelled True that should have been told to them right away
2019-09-17 06:32:18 PM sonyamsullivan I think that the residents have to pay for their own meals at a restaurant. I know that they pay for their own movie ticket at movie outings.
2019-09-17 06:32:36 PM kathyhughes the residents would pay for their meals and drinks
2019-09-17 06:32:38 PM kathyhughes and tip
2019-09-17 06:32:46 PM buddyrmorvent I would tell them if ask ahead of time but I dont advertise it b/c of the issues that creates.
2019-09-17 06:33:10 PM lhalfacre We no longer have transportation so we never get to go on outings anymore.
2019-09-17 06:33:20 PM aehutchins I agree with giving a budget out to each person incuding the staff and volunteers but then you shouldn't take them to an expensive place
2019-09-17 06:33:27 PM regina1 Previous job though.....residents paid for their own, and company paid for empolyees and the driver
2019-09-17 06:33:33 PM emilynb1 i tell the residents when i invite them on the trip that we will get the money from the main office from their accounts if they want to join - saves them from frantically searching for their own money
2019-09-17 06:34:13 PM jjmiller227 Since our residents are memory care, I take care of the bill and report back to my director what each person had so she can have it go on their monthly statement.
2019-09-17 06:34:20 PM kathyhughes We did that as well Emily
2019-09-17 06:34:33 PM kathyhughes And the residents actually would pick the restaurant.
2019-09-17 06:34:39 PM deniseweiss We would love to be able to take our residents and volunteers out to celebrate and appreciate them. However, at our SNF we too don't have the transportation and volume of staff currently to make that a reality.
2019-09-17 06:34:56 PM aida1 yes in my facility we go eat and residentes pays for the own and my facility pays for stuff or volunters
2019-09-17 06:35:02 PM kathyhughes We had two ladies who would call restaurants and ask for their menu to be mailed to the facility
2019-09-17 06:35:12 PM kathyhughes If we didn't get a menu we did not go
2019-09-17 06:35:21 PM aehutchins If the community insist that the resident pay for their own food then they need to be told as much as two weeks in advance. You need to give as much notice to the family of the resident to give them money
2019-09-17 06:35:22 PM emilynb1 at resident council we ask for outing suggestions for the following month
2019-09-17 06:35:25 PM buddyrmorvent I like that!
2019-09-17 06:36:02 PM kathyhughes I always had a few people who needed something to do
2019-09-17 06:36:07 PM emilynb1 i have quite a number of gluten free resident and if the restaurant doesnt offer much for that, we dont typically go there either
2019-09-17 06:36:09 PM michelled I wish we could do that. That sounds like so much fun.
2019-09-17 06:36:11 PM kathyhughes so we would put them to work
2019-09-17 06:36:22 PM amberreed thats a good idea
2019-09-17 06:36:25 PM kathyhughes We also would order in for residents who could not go out
2019-09-17 06:36:35 PM amberreed we do dine in once a month
2019-09-17 06:36:38 PM kathyhughes and they would come to the activity room for their meal'
2019-09-17 06:36:44 PM emilynb1 we are doing that tomorrow kathy for international cheese burger day!
2019-09-17 06:36:51 PM emilynb1 Wendy's :)
2019-09-17 06:36:56 PM amberreed thats what we do next week is our dine in we are having KFC
2019-09-17 06:37:01 PM aehutchins If I have in the plan to take the residents anywhere where they could spend money I like to give them two weeks notice
2019-09-17 06:37:08 PM michelled How did you go about setting something like that up?
2019-09-17 06:37:12 PM aida1 we take the residentes to the buffet at the casino and we ask for senior discounts and for local price
2019-09-17 06:37:24 PM jjmiller227 Our men's group had lunch in today and had a great time
2019-09-17 06:37:39 PM adriannamarshall enter the chat room
2019-09-17 06:37:52 PM kathyhughes We would ask the residents if they wanted to dine in and give them the menu to look at...if they wanted to come they would pick their meal and we would go get it
2019-09-17 06:38:08 PM aehutchins buffett at the casino sounds like a blast
2019-09-17 06:38:45 PM kathyhughes Also for Veterans Day many restaurants give discounts on Nov 11....I had a student call around the restaurant would send meals for the discount and sometimes free
2019-09-17 06:38:47 PM amberreed last month we did taco bell and none of our residents had ever tried a taco they loed it
2019-09-17 06:39:13 PM sonyamsullivan What about having the food delivered and then decorating the room to match the type of food? Mexican decorations for Taco Tuesday, etc.
2019-09-17 06:39:14 PM aehutchins Excellent idea Kathy!
2019-09-17 06:39:38 PM lhalfacre We have had walking tacos and the residents loved them.
2019-09-17 06:39:45 PM amberreed that would be great and play music
2019-09-17 06:40:13 PM aehutchins We could make tacos in our cooking club , tacos are easy
2019-09-17 06:40:43 PM regina1 i remember when I first offered a taco to a resident! We often have Taco Tuesdays now!!
2019-09-17 06:41:23 PM sonyamsullivan Yes, festive music to match the type of cusine.
2019-09-17 06:41:39 PM michelled I bet they would love to do something like that
2019-09-17 06:41:59 PM lhalfacre Taco Tuesday is a wonderful ideal. I am going to have to mention this to my admin
2019-09-17 06:42:04 PM adriannamarshall excellent ideas!!
2019-09-17 06:42:12 PM emilynb1 stealing the taco tuesday idea haha
2019-09-17 06:42:26 PM tharwat :D
2019-09-17 06:42:55 PM kathyhughes I have a question..why would you ask your Administrator?
2019-09-17 06:42:57 PM deniseweiss We have a small group of residents who enjoy dining in from time to time. They usually express their interest during resident council and anyone who wants to join in is able to. We in activities facilitate this, from providing them with menus, to ordering, and having it delivered. The money spent is charged to their personal "entertainment" accounts.

2019-09-17 06:43:29 PM lhalfacre Everything has to be run by her.
2019-09-17 06:43:39 PM kathyhughes Thats too bad!
2019-09-17 06:43:52 PM kathyhughes She seems to be a micromanager
2019-09-17 06:43:58 PM lhalfacre Yes she is
2019-09-17 06:44:04 PM aehutchins agreed.. I just have to ask mine for the pcard lol
2019-09-17 06:44:04 PM tammiehall25 same with me.....everything....
2019-09-17 06:44:05 PM tharwat the same thing
2019-09-17 06:44:21 PM merrellsherry same at our facility, everything through the administrator
2019-09-17 06:44:24 PM kathyhughes I never asked
2019-09-17 06:44:41 PM kathyhughes for any of them all 25
2019-09-17 06:44:45 PM kathyhughes never
2019-09-17 06:44:49 PM aehutchins Do they not let you control your budget?
2019-09-17 06:44:57 PM michelled I hate asking to use our pcard. I feel like im asking my parents to borrow money.
2019-09-17 06:45:44 PM emilynb1 i used to feel the same way at my last facility... always feel like an annoyance asking for money out of my own budget
2019-09-17 06:46:01 PM deniseweiss I am very fortunate to have a very hands-off administrator at my facility! He completely trusts our AD so as long as she okays everything, it is a go!
2019-09-17 06:46:09 PM emilynb1 and once i even got "im too busy to deal with that right now.. take money from the snack cart"
2019-09-17 06:46:09 PM merrellsherry we have to make a detailed list including individual prices of items and have it approved by the adminiatrator
2019-09-17 06:46:14 PM buddyrmorvent How many bed facility? Im just curious. question is for Tammie, Kathy, and lhalfacre.
2019-09-17 06:46:32 PM kathyhughes I had my own budget, upped it every year...and we had a great budget...spent every penny and did all the activities the residents wanted
2019-09-17 06:46:35 PM michelled I usually end up paying for it out of my pocket it's less hassel
2019-09-17 06:46:38 PM aehutchins emily..ouch
2019-09-17 06:46:51 PM tammiehall25 119
2019-09-17 06:46:56 PM kathyhughes I had a 160 resident facility and a 30 person Adult Day Care

2019-09-17 06:47:19 PM buddyrmorvent :) Thanks.
2019-09-17 06:47:24 PM lhalfacre We have no budget. I spend my own money.

2019-09-17 06:48:12 PM aehutchins Ihalfacre....wha??? You spend your own money?
2019-09-17 06:48:21 PM kathyhughes We raised money every day for activities and the resident council will decide how to spend it
2019-09-17 06:48:34 PM kathyhughes we had a really good resident council account
2019-09-17 06:48:36 PM lhalfacre yes
2019-09-17 06:48:39 PM michelled For some things I do. Yesterday they made cookies I bought it all for them.
2019-09-17 06:48:53 PM aida1 my manager have his own money to spend in activities
2019-09-17 06:48:57 PM sonyamsullivan Wow, that's big facility Kathy! I'm volunteering at an assisted living place holds 65 residents. That seems more manageable for me.
2019-09-17 06:49:00 PM tharwat we have budget .and everytime if we want to do anything we ask frist
2019-09-17 06:49:35 PM kathyhughes If you are spending your own money then you are making far less that what it says on your paycheck
2019-09-17 06:49:48 PM emilynb1 exactly kathy thats what i was just typing
2019-09-17 06:49:57 PM aehutchins Agreed
2019-09-17 06:50:01 PM amberreed have a bake sale and raise money for your activities
2019-09-17 06:50:11 PM lhalfacre I know, but I am always thinking of the residents.
2019-09-17 06:50:16 PM regina1 yes, raise the money for your activities
2019-09-17 06:50:24 PM kathyhughes So for instance if you make 10.00 an hour...spend lets say $50 a pay period then you are not making money
2019-09-17 06:50:25 PM amberreed talk to your office staff and ask for help/donations
2019-09-17 06:50:28 PM lhalfacre What kind of life will they have if they have nothing fun to do.
2019-09-17 06:50:31 PM aehutchins I was just thinking of adding bake sale to my fall fesitivities
2019-09-17 06:50:34 PM deniseweiss We are very lucky to have an amazing family council whose fundraisers often donate to our resident council fund. Also, many times families want to give monetary donations to the fund after their loved one passes, in lieu of flowers.
2019-09-17 06:50:47 PM sonyamsullivan Who buys the bake goods amberreed?
2019-09-17 06:50:56 PM emilynb1 im sure they pay enough money for there to be an activity budget
2019-09-17 06:51:02 PM amberreed staff
2019-09-17 06:51:07 PM kathyhughes They have lots of inexpensive things to do and you have to plan simple activities
2019-09-17 06:51:12 PM amberreed aides nurses maybe family that visits
2019-09-17 06:51:22 PM aehutchins Can you set up outside walmart and sale baked goods still? Is that a thing?
2019-09-17 06:51:32 PM kathyhughes Every facility gets money allotted from Meidcaid for Activities
2019-09-17 06:51:36 PM michelled The staff buy the cookies and the money they make all goes to their bingo prize money
2019-09-17 06:51:41 PM emilynb1 family can bring things in for bake sales
2019-09-17 06:51:45 PM adriannamarshall left the chat room
2019-09-17 06:52:25 PM kathyhughes When I had a bad budget I spent time finding free stuff and the residents asked family members as well
2019-09-17 06:52:27 PM merrellsherry where i am they are charging the residents $8000.00 a bed and we have just over 135 residents and they dont want me to spend more than $200.00 a month
2019-09-17 06:52:28 PM michelled my admin is trying to get my budget doubled. Lets hope she can.
2019-09-17 06:52:32 PM amberreed you can also ask for donations for crafts and other projects you will do withresidents hang up a flyer near time clock
2019-09-17 06:53:00 PM kathyhughes We had a couple volunteers who went to garage sales and would get items for activities every week
2019-09-17 06:53:30 PM emilynb1 residents love stuffies as bingo prizes at my facility and you can get them second hand for real cheap or even donated
2019-09-17 06:53:34 PM aehutchins Alot of places will donate too , all you have to do is ask
2019-09-17 06:54:01 PM sonyamsullivan Garage sales and the Dollar Store...
2019-09-17 06:54:01 PM kathyhughes right and let the families know what you need
2019-09-17 06:54:07 PM regina1 what are 'stuffies'?
2019-09-17 06:54:16 PM amberreed all pat catans are closing go in and ask if they will donate anything that doesnt sell before final closing
