2016-02-23 07:24:54 PM wrendillon I did them in my old facility. People either LOVED or HATED morning announcements. Said I sounded like a chipmunk on speed.
2016-02-23 07:24:55 PM theresar You can get a bluetooth speaker on wheels (Sam's Club or Costco) and use the microphone and also use free online music (Pandora, for example) to play any kind of music.

2016-02-23 07:25:03 PM kgates We took our residents to a local football game in the evening, we brought blankets and bought hot dogs and cokes for everyone, they had a blast and the players came by after to say hello, they talked about it for weeks.
2016-02-23 07:25:03 PM shensle but that was aimed more towards the community

2016-02-23 07:25:36 PM kathym We have taken ours to a county fair one time. they saw the jelly and jam exhibits where the items showed thier ribbons. We went to see some of the quilting that goes on in the area with their prize ribbons. Resident likes these kinds of things especially since it brings back their memories.
2016-02-23 07:25:37 PM mattk I haven't been great about coming to the chat room because I've been so tied up with work
2016-02-23 07:25:38 PM jaiken Our paging system is not heard in residents rooms, so it is more for those out and about or staff to assist, but they don't
2016-02-23 07:25:44 PM michellep007 funny, wrendillon
2016-02-23 07:25:49 PM aaronf89 we do announcements with the weather and daily activites. the residents seem to like it

2016-02-23 07:26:07 PM kathyhughes we made "programs" that we passed out in the morning to residents who wanted to know what was going on

2016-02-23 07:26:39 PM tlgst16 We pass the "every day news" which is a list of activities that we're doing that day, what's for lunch and dinner, a random fact and a word search on the back.

2016-02-23 07:27:35 PM jaiken I do individual calendars for rooms - of the whole month's activities there's a large wall calendar outside the Day Room also
2016-02-23 07:27:37 PM kathyhughes laminating would not work
2016-02-23 07:27:38 PM theresar @dbest: we also wrote cards to the troops.
2016-02-23 07:27:40 PM johne we use the monthly calendar in every room and have a huge calendar on the wall between the nurses station and dinning room so the residents see them when they go to dinner
2016-02-23 07:27:42 PM kgates We tried that in their rooms, but it doesn't work due to our high turnover of residents and staff. Plus the residents change what they are doing so often that its old after a few weeks.
2016-02-23 07:27:43 PM vauriemmo what is summermurphy
2016-02-23 07:27:45 PM tonic I have daily sheets, week at a glance, large wall calendars and calendar within the newsletter

2016-02-23 07:28:25 PM summermurphy Awesome... are they specialized to the events /activites that apply to that resident? Just think this would be a great way for everyone involved to be aware of activities for that specific patient ... care team and family
2016-02-23 07:28:27 PM shensle and a daily annnouncment schedules in the elevators
2016-02-23 07:28:27 PM kathyhughes the 11x17 paper would let them do a puzzle and they could take them with them
2016-02-23 07:28:31 PM johne we also announce 30 mins before every activity
2016-02-23 07:28:42 PM amber88 everyone always asks whats going on and we have two great big calendars too

2016-02-23 07:29:13 PM theresar Every resident has a calendar in their room. Each unit (4) has a white board and we write the days activities on the boards.
2016-02-23 07:29:14 PM tonic We don't have PA system so we also announce breakfast, lunch and dinner if need be.
2016-02-23 07:29:17 PM mberroa We have 6 huge calendars and every resident has there own calendar but they still ask what's the next activity LOL

2016-02-23 07:29:36 PM julies we do announcements daily, a resident helps most of the time. I just write it out and add special days and a joke
2016-02-23 07:29:43 PM kgates We have calendars in every room, these were individual cards that we made for each resident so the families, friends and CNA's would know what activities they liked to participate in. Too hard to keep up with, unless you do them quarterly like when you do the updates on care plans, and pull from that every 3 months.
2016-02-23 07:29:46 PM csteele we hang calendars in each room as well
2016-02-23 07:29:47 PM aclark The STNA try to help, As we grow it is getting harder for me to collect everyone
2016-02-23 07:29:47 PM tlgst16 We have calendars in indivdual rooms, in the newsletter, etc. The daily shee we pass has honestly worked the best and the residents that never come to anything love to do the word search on the back. Plus staff know what is going on throughout the day and encourage residents to attend.
2016-02-23 07:29:50 PM dbest we have to run up and down 3 floors to gather before each program
2016-02-23 07:29:51 PM jamie I've made a Spanish calendar

2016-02-23 07:30:15 PM connie47 We have a german patient right now and it is very hard to understand her broken english
2016-02-23 07:30:16 PM shensle not*
2016-02-23 07:30:18 PM mattk Plus me and the other caregivers encourage the residents to leave their apartments for meals.
2016-02-23 07:30:19 PM karic We pass out 11X7 calendars to every resident and we hang them on the memory care unit bathroom (outside) door.
2016-02-23 07:30:23 PM sue123 Where can i find an example of a family newsletter?
2016-02-23 07:30:26 PM ninajacobs I wish we could have colored placemats in the dining room so that not everyday is the same! But it is too expensive
