2016-02-06 04:52:38 AM kgates Alzheimers can cause stress and anxiety in seniors, in order for anyone who has alzheimers to calm down and not have behaviors means you need to find the root cause of their anxiety and stress and try to find the reasons for certain behaviors. It may be as simple as going to the restroom, or playing some calming music or removing them from overstimulation.

2016-02-06 07:44:51 PM theresar I have found with my residents that it may require quick thinking to get them out of their "panic" phase. It could be simply re-directing them or just asking them, "Are you breathing?" Besides having a calm conversation with them, I take what I know they like the most. This could anything from reading the paper or just getting a cup of coffee. Something familiar. They need to have a purpose and giving them a task always helps.

2016-02-08 03:16:33 PM 171810 I have found that when in activities, simple exercises such as putting together a foam letter/alphabet puzzle, nail paiting, singing and listening to music and passing a ball back and forth are good groups to involve Alzheimers paitends in. It can be difficult for them to participate in large groups where there is alot of stimuli going on but small groups often times show better results.

2016-02-22 07:57:39 PM kathym I am going to give this a shot. I was reading about Alz heimer's today and it is difficult for me to see the markers of the disease unless I am around it all the time. We have a secured wing at my facility and some of the folks there don't show any signs of the disease. I have stood infront of people with this and don't see it. Please tell me what I am missing. I want to treat them differently, but don't know how.
2016-02-22 07:58:40 PM kathym It is now 3 minutes to 7 my time and I thought we were going to adult day care.
