2019-10-08 06:21:37 PM buddyrmorvent I think the belief that older ppl are tech deficent assumes older ppl dont have the capacity to learn, and it limits there options. I use several tech based services that are perfect for an older person. Especially if they do need help with some aspects of life.
2019-10-08 06:21:54 PM kate1995 We have santa come around and pass out gifts. We all pick a resident and act as their secerate santa.

2019-10-08 06:22:33 PM buddyrmorvent My example of ageism in my community is everyone assumes older ppl are tech deficent.

2019-10-08 06:22:59 PM bpasdon It sounds weird but i reccomend you all have a "Best legs contest." Set a petition up so now one knows who it is and have everyone vote... the male contest always get a ton of laughs
2019-10-08 06:23:01 PM edithscarrillo sometimes we think that games are too chidlike but some residents like to play games
2019-10-08 06:23:02 PM kate1995 How do you all keep your jehovah's witness residents engaged during the holidays?
2019-10-08 06:23:03 PM aehutchins Truth...I brough up Taptiles on the smart board the other day and had a resident take it from me and he was awesome at it. I would have never thought
2019-10-08 06:23:05 PM jjmiller227 Great idea on the breast cancer walk
2019-10-08 06:23:08 PM juliecormier I think buddyrmorvent if someone would take the time to teach the tech based stuff to the elderly they can learn. I agree
2019-10-08 06:23:10 PM merrellsherry This is the same for me Buddy

2019-10-08 06:23:33 PM crdsteele The event is open to the public and they can purchase their bingo cards. I think we are doing $5/card or 3 for $12. All of the monety goes directly to the animal foundation! I called local businesses in the area to donate the prizes! They are bringing their kitten on site to cuddle with while we play!
2019-10-08 06:23:43 PM kate1995 We do Jacksonville Jag watch parties on sundays

2019-10-08 06:24:51 PM bpasdon its just a fun way to recycle the money we would have already spent, but the clients get to have some fun too
2019-10-08 06:24:52 PM edithscarrillo I think that ageism is really sad... doesn't mean that if you get old you are not able to do the stuff that you enjoy,
2019-10-08 06:24:55 PM ronda Great Idea bpasdon
2019-10-08 06:25:11 PM juliecormier I would like our veterns to be able to speak about their service this time sonyamsullivan. We have a really cool veterans wall and many veterans here.
2019-10-08 06:25:15 PM regina1 That is a great program bpasdon. I have never heard of anything like that before. Buddy, we have volunteers from near by H.S. who come out to our facility and help the I/L members with 'tech questions' A lot of them already come to us with iphones and ipads, so they have a good idea how to use those tech products. But some still would like to have more help, and my facility provides a way through volunteers

2019-10-08 06:26:22 PM ronda There are some really tech savvy Senior Adults out there in the world. Dont let their age fool you, I mean after all many of them survived the Great Depression. They are very adaptive.
2019-10-08 06:26:49 PM edithscarrillo we do christmas carol, and all department head are going around singing to the residents
2019-10-08 06:26:50 PM chiquitacdelaney 'GET IDEA IHALFACRE
