2020-07-12 07:36:24 PM maninder the psychological or social review is very important
2020-07-12 07:36:48 PM webernicole Should we be documenting covid also? Or just the psych social part?
2020-07-12 07:37:04 PM maninder during these times, having a mental state is difficult even for all non-senior citizens
2020-07-12 07:37:11 PM yadi1 Are there forms to document these reviews noted on Residents, if so, who should have them available? anyone know?
2020-07-12 07:38:35 PM maninder our facility is closed but we virtually call them to ask about how they are doing. We are documenting under daily check-in. Are your facilities doing anything different
2020-07-12 07:38:36 PM webernicole When the MDS is completed there are CAAs that are done if residents trigger for psych/social
2020-07-12 07:38:42 PM yadi1 I was told to make sure, I document or share all changes to the wellness coordinator of any changes.
2020-07-12 07:38:53 PM careyjeff ,y mds coord nator put in due to covid pys soc could be affected due to lack of visits and socialization anad isolation. we didnt do it under act. part but its in care paln
2020-07-12 07:39:08 PM marisah4 oh thats nice to include
2020-07-12 07:39:52 PM yadi1 makes sense @careyjeff. I knew care plans were very important.
2020-07-12 07:39:57 PM webernicole We have to make sure we document all of our contacts and interventions more so now than ever since everything is 1:1 based... my girls are getting annoyed with all of the extra charting
2020-07-12 07:40:08 PM careyjeff yes web sec. f could trigger cas
2020-07-12 07:40:12 PM careyjeff caas
2020-07-12 07:40:31 PM webernicole There are a few sections that can trigger it, but section F is a big one
2020-07-12 07:40:46 PM webernicole I have had residents trigger from staff interviews
2020-07-12 07:40:54 PM careyjeff im so behind on charting due to many zoom calls myself
2020-07-12 07:41:39 PM webernicole it is very hard to manage all of the 1:1s and video calls... I am lucky to have 3 assistants for 42 residents and we all have a hard time keeping up with it all
2020-07-12 07:41:46 PM marisah4 we dont do as much were i work
2020-07-12 07:41:49 PM yadi1 This COVID-19 has changed everyones routine, but as activity staff, we need to understand changes are a must to be compliant with protocols. yes, it's more work, but in the long run, documentation will come in handy when state does their visits.
2020-07-12 07:42:04 PM maninder agreed
2020-07-12 07:42:08 PM webernicole agreed
2020-07-12 07:42:18 PM balvarez agree
2020-07-12 07:42:32 PM marisah4 :)
2020-07-12 07:42:35 PM careyjeff So back to diagnosis. Ex. in normal times. Rehab patient ST, broken hip with history of depression. What do we do
2020-07-12 07:44:05 PM yadi1 I believe music therapy along with social visits by staff are starters for the patient.?
2020-07-12 07:44:05 PM careyjeff remember person centered
2020-07-12 07:44:24 PM marisah4 encurage to come to groups
2020-07-12 07:44:27 PM marisah4 1:1
2020-07-12 07:44:35 PM webernicole In normal times we have group activities so if the resident is active in groups invite them to join in activities when not in therapy. Otherwise provide 1:1s based on residents interests. Make sure the resident has items to occupy their time in their room if they are not receptive to activities at all.
2020-07-12 07:45:00 PM careyjeff How bout ask his interest?
2020-07-12 07:45:10 PM marisah4 oh yes of course
2020-07-12 07:45:24 PM balvarez yes
2020-07-12 07:45:28 PM webernicole that would be established upon admission and care plan which is done within first few days of admission
2020-07-12 07:45:38 PM careyjeff likes oldies rock and baseball
2020-07-12 07:46:12 PM maninder of course
2020-07-12 07:46:12 PM careyjeff has 2 grown adult sons out of state
2020-07-12 07:46:13 PM yadi1 haha, yes, that would help tremendously. but, some good music always sothes the soul.
2020-07-12 07:46:38 PM webernicole Provide music therapy and the sports channel, maybe some magazines about baseball if interested in reading. Have the resident toss a soft baseball with you...
2020-07-12 07:46:40 PM careyjeff likes outdoors
2020-07-12 07:47:06 PM marisah4 make sure they have dvds of the music they enjyo in their rooms
2020-07-12 07:47:08 PM careyjeff lokes snacking
2020-07-12 07:47:15 PM yadi1 Having access to internet, and doing facebook chats help out alot, specially for family that are out of state.
2020-07-12 07:47:17 PM careyjeff loves snacking
2020-07-12 07:47:22 PM webernicole Bring the resident outdoors for a snack and
2020-07-12 07:47:25 PM marisah4 ask what kinds of snacks and provide them
2020-07-12 07:47:30 PM webernicole chat about baseball and family
2020-07-12 07:47:34 PM balvarez facetime with family
2020-07-12 07:47:56 PM maninder yea, chats with family, provide their fav snacks, put on the game for them (if in season)
2020-07-12 07:48:00 PM careyjeff what about his hip and weight
2020-07-12 07:48:26 PM marisah4 work around it
2020-07-12 07:48:53 PM careyjeff loves ny yankees
2020-07-12 07:48:55 PM webernicole Snacks can be healthy and I am basing my ideas off of my facility and things I have done with residents in this scenario... we see lots of hips
2020-07-12 07:49:07 PM careyjeff good web
2020-07-12 07:49:25 PM careyjeff okk now with covid adapt
2020-07-12 07:49:28 PM yadi1 I work alot with the wellness coordinator so, she gives me lots of ideas to work with the resident while the CNA's care for any injuries.
2020-07-12 07:50:50 PM marisah4 1:1
2020-07-12 07:51:06 PM careyjeff doing?
2020-07-12 07:51:09 PM yadi1 Thank God, we do not have any patients or Residents with the virus, but, if we did, we have to quaranten the resident, means activity staff is off limits until further notice.
2020-07-12 07:51:13 PM marisah4 trivia about the ny yaankees
2020-07-12 07:51:15 PM balvarez he would be in the isolation bring things in the room that can stay keep doing 1:1
2020-07-12 07:51:18 PM marisah4 and rock music
2020-07-12 07:51:28 PM careyjeff Does he need 1:1? or want it?
2020-07-12 07:51:30 PM maninder can still do music and chats with family
2020-07-12 07:51:49 PM webernicole Well upon admission our residents are on a strict 2 week isolation period so everything would have to be 1:1 based. Any items brought in to the room become the residents or get thrown away because we cannot reuse unless it is something that can be completely sanitized. I would still visit with resident and reminisce about baseball. We could still toss a soft baseball. Watch a game on television. Facetime with family
2020-07-12 07:51:50 PM marisah4 can drop off worksheets for him basic on what he likes
2020-07-12 07:51:57 PM balvarez he cant come out due to covid
2020-07-12 07:52:18 PM careyjeff Prioritize you have 85 residents and 8 hours
2020-07-12 07:52:31 PM careyjeff good maris
2020-07-12 07:52:47 PM yadi1 We were told, that if a resident needs to be quarantened then, we need to find activity crafts that the residents can do to keep busy. But, I could not go in only medical staff.
2020-07-12 07:53:13 PM webernicole 1:1s would be based on residents interests and would be under a time restraint, but yes I would provide items to keep resident occupied on his own. Circle books, crosswords, sudoku, coloring pages if interested, playing cards...
2020-07-12 07:53:27 PM careyjeff Not everything has to be 1:1s alot of residents can be independent just give them materilas
2020-07-12 07:54:02 PM webernicole Especially on the rehab side because they are short term and a lot of times come prepared with items that interest them to occupy their time.
2020-07-12 07:54:06 PM maninder we have to priortize
2020-07-12 07:54:06 PM careyjeff good web
2020-07-12 07:54:29 PM careyjeff Who needs 1:1s
2020-07-12 07:54:49 PM webernicole Right now 90% of my residents...
2020-07-12 07:54:55 PM marisah4 people who do not go to groups
2020-07-12 07:55:31 PM yadi1 100 % of mine as we can not have group activities at this time, due to covid protocols.
