We have a Santa that comes in and the residents help pass out presents and help the kids make crafts and decorate cookies.

We have a wanderer that likes to borrow things...we distract her free hand with something she CAN have then remove the item she borrowed. We had another one that would remove decorations, anything actually, and would take them to her room. Staff would cause negative behaviors by taking the items from her but we taught them to remove them from her room when she was busy doing something else...her level of dementia was enough that she wouldn't remember what she had taken.
2019-11-12 07:53:16 PM joannet I planned a black and white dinner for residents only. All directors and staff that worked that night would dress up in black or white or both as well as the residents. I put up the white lights in dining room and LED tea lights on table with a balloon drop at end of dinner. I had a singer come out to sing "crooning" music and they would dance. They also decided what would be on the dinner menu so involving them in the planning was something they enjoyed doing
