2019-12-10 07:40:47 PM rachel1980 I think we could write a book about our stories
2019-12-10 07:40:59 PM spankylee99 our activites of daily living ADL room is where our residents who are able to go to cook, do laundrey, iron ,vacum, clean etc. it is set up just like a miny home

2019-12-10 07:46:35 PM briannal We do a party for them with sparkiling cider and some kind of sweets typically maybe like a nice sheet cake and decorate the dining room. We do our own little countdown on theTV as well. It's honestly a great time and seeig their faces makes it so worth it

2019-12-10 07:48:38 PM michelep Anyone actually stay up until midnight? Or is that too late for your residents
2019-12-10 07:48:39 PM tanya1 Wow you each have great different approaches to the new years celbration. I like them all.

2019-12-10 07:52:02 PM spankylee99 valeriepeace i beleive it is important to document in the careplan, and the one on one individual plan, even if family is visiting, we should capture this caring in our documention. State survey looks at that sort of thing.

2019-12-12 07:05:01 PM rebeccarodriguez i jsut put my tree up in my home yesterday
2019-12-12 07:05:03 PM edithscarrillo by the time that I have to do stuff for home I'm already burn out from work
2019-12-12 07:05:05 PM hmorris we just got done with our holiday party ya'll
2019-12-12 07:05:05 PM kaylenbaringer i am picking up 60 donated presents for my residents tomorrow ! i am hoping they are already wrapped lol
2019-12-12 07:05:16 PM julielynnmincek we have wrapping "parties" everyday for whichever residents want to come help its been such a big help
2019-12-12 07:05:28 PM jcullum I always procrastinate when it comes to wrapping
2019-12-12 07:05:30 PM julielynnmincek about 6 things being wrapped daily is such a huge help
2019-12-12 07:05:41 PM amberreed who are they wrapping for>
2019-12-12 07:06:08 PM kathyhughes So what goals do you have for the next year for your activities?
2019-12-12 07:06:20 PM julielynnmincek they are wrapping handmade quilts for the 1:1 residents and we have a lot of 1:1 residents
2019-12-12 07:06:36 PM amberreed awe thats so nice
2019-12-12 07:06:45 PM kaylenbaringer i want to have more quality interactions between all staff and all residents...........
2019-12-12 07:07:01 PM jcullum That is really nice
2019-12-12 07:07:02 PM kaylenbaringer we have to get out of this institutional mindset!!!
2019-12-12 07:07:03 PM julielynnmincek and we serve hot chocolate with whipped cream and a candy cane for those who helped
2019-12-12 07:07:10 PM tamala1 One goal I have is to get more clients involved
2019-12-12 07:07:15 PM kathyhughes How do you think that you can do that with all of the staff?
2019-12-12 07:07:29 PM rebeccarodriguez we are doing a family holiday dinner
2019-12-12 07:07:30 PM hmorris Plan the biggest events and special weeks. I want to do second annual events for 2020 out of the most success ones.
2019-12-12 07:07:47 PM julielynnmincek i want to be able to communicate so much better with our activity department i feel like my opinions don
2019-12-12 07:07:51 PM julielynnmincek dont matter.
2019-12-12 07:07:58 PM rebeccarodriguez involve the staff
2019-12-12 07:08:18 PM kaylenbaringer i thought about doing incentives like every time i see someone sitting and talking with a resident or going above and beyond for a resident giving them a thank you note or a candy bar or something
2019-12-12 07:08:26 PM rebeccarodriguez our staff are very engaged it makes mr happy
2019-12-12 07:08:29 PM julielynnmincek i have been wanting to have a sit down and see other peoples point of view or if im just overreacting so we can have a better connection and work better as a team
2019-12-12 07:08:30 PM kaylenbaringer and doing staff/resident activities more often
2019-12-12 07:08:38 PM rebeccarodriguez even the executive director
2019-12-12 07:09:17 PM kathyhughes It is a great goal and I am sure with all your creativity that you will see an improvement
2019-12-12 07:09:44 PM kaylenbaringer i hope so! maybe not ALL staff but I am sure that it will improve from what it is now
2019-12-12 07:10:18 PM tamala1 If we can get our staff to be more excited about delivering the activities I think more people would want to participate. I also think if we do more activities that they love to do.
2019-12-12 07:10:36 PM amberreed we had state exit our main building today....we got a defficiency in activities a resident AOX3 complained they dont get to go on enough outings
2019-12-12 07:10:56 PM kaylenbaringer how many outings do you do amber?
2019-12-12 07:11:19 PM amberreed walmart twice a month except nov-feb.
2019-12-12 07:11:25 PM julielynnmincek another thing i hope to do next year is get our staff more involved and more in the spirit of things our staff here always does things for other employees but i feel like they need to have some of that enthusiasm when it comes to the kids
2019-12-12 07:11:29 PM amberreed and bus rides weekly and field trips
2019-12-12 07:11:32 PM jcullum How many outings do they think you should do?
2019-12-12 07:11:34 PM kathyhughes We did a program once where we made all sorts of puzzles and would place them on the wall near the nurses station. One was word search with the residents names and staff names in it. I was coming down the hallway and 2 Cnas and 4 residents where looking for the names
2019-12-12 07:11:57 PM jcullum That is a great idea!
2019-12-12 07:12:14 PM hmorris Oh another goal is to start a real volunteer program
2019-12-12 07:12:20 PM tamala1 Like that idea
2019-12-12 07:12:22 PM amberreed year round trips and to let him go on all of them...even though we rotate residents seeing as we can not take all of them at once
2019-12-12 07:12:24 PM edithscarrillo I've being wanting to do that with the names
2019-12-12 07:12:27 PM julielynnmincek *comes to the residents i mean. haha i dont know where my head is omg lol
2019-12-12 07:12:59 PM kathyhughes And have you encouraged his family to take him out?
2019-12-12 07:13:03 PM hmorris Kalyen thats a great idea
2019-12-12 07:13:20 PM amberreed yes we have...they do not want to come and even visit
2019-12-12 07:13:53 PM kathyhughes And did you document that you contacted them for additonal outings?
2019-12-12 07:14:17 PM amberreed yes we did.....our deffieciency was not meeting his daily preferences
2019-12-12 07:14:40 PM kathyhughes And did you offer him the ability to go out on his own?
2019-12-12 07:15:01 PM kaylenbaringer is it possible that your van driver could take him out after appointments?
2019-12-12 07:15:25 PM kaylenbaringer the driver for our van takes residents to walmart when he has time between appointments
2019-12-12 07:15:27 PM amberreed that we did not, this R is very difficult and verbally abusive and attempts to purchase medications and alcohol so he has to be accompanied
2019-12-12 07:15:50 PM amberreed per DON
2019-12-12 07:16:27 PM kathyhughes Well are there other alternatives for him? Would the DON go once a week shopping with him or to a restaurant?
2019-12-12 07:16:32 PM kathyhughes or the movies
2019-12-12 07:16:59 PM amberreed possibly. the activity director has already started a list of options
2019-12-12 07:17:33 PM amberreed i thought this would be good for everyone to hear since all situations are different and its a learning experience
2019-12-12 07:17:46 PM kathyhughes I think that care planning his "need" to go out and that everyone is chipping in would help
2019-12-12 07:18:12 PM kaylenbaringer i would definately document if you have ever asked him to go out and he refuses to
2019-12-12 07:18:14 PM kathyhughes He more than likely want attention and
2019-12-12 07:18:39 PM kathyhughes I would document all the time and then go see if you nhave other residents who want more outsingss
